Take the existing ground that went to the battery in the engine compartment and ground it to the body of the car. Your new ground in the trunk should go to a GOOD grounding point. I have always used one of the seatbelt bolts in the back seat as the grounding point.

There is no need for the gound run back to the front. Try using the seat belt bolt and make sure the ground wire from the battery is 4 gauge.

How old is the battery? What's the battery voltage? Get a load test done on the battery.

the battery is questionable but i have been trying it with the charger hooked up could the bat still cause me trouble? i just ran another ground to the block from the frame we'll see if that helps

What's the cranking amps on that battery? Sounds like your battery took a shit. It's going to take a lot more amperage to crank it over with the long length of cable. When I move a bat to the back I use 1 or 0 welding cable...

I just installed my new ODYSSEY drycell battery in the pinto (680 amp) it's under the right fender starts every time...
