94 Tri-Bars Tire Sizes???

I need to know the biggest size tire I can get the factory Tri-bars without any kind of rubbing issues. Currently running the 245-45-17's, would love to widen them a bit. But would also like to be able to rotate them too. The factory size just isn't fattttt enough.

Also considering Eibach lowering springs, so the right tires would be needed for that as well. Only wanna to drop 1-1.5.


Also looking for a set of O.E.M. Ford Mach1 wheels, not chrome, not knock-offs. I need to get a set of tires in the next month anyways so tires are not really an issue. If anyone has a set or knows someone who does, let me know.

Yup, I spray my PC! I would go 255/40/17 all the way around. Are trybars 17X8"? If so, go with a 275/35/17 out back. I have 17X9" on the GT and I will probably go 305 in the rear.

I had tri bars on my 4cyl fox and had 275/40 in the rear and 245/45 in the front. I know got bullitts on it the same way, you cant rotate but it looks mean.

I was a bit concerned with the 255's in the front too. I was thinking there could be a bit of rubbing and the fender spacing too. Right now I still have the factory springs, so there is already way too much gap. So to go with the 255/40's would most likely emphasize that.

I do like Lib's 245/45 up front & 275/40 in the rear idea. With the 275 being wider the difference in series isn't going to be very noticeable. So speedo & spacing shouldn't be a major problem either.:awsome:

I don't really want repro Mach1 wheels. The reason I want to go with these is because they are not really out there. The Mach's are rare cars and not driven/seen much, plus everyone is going with Bullitts. So similar to the ( not as rare ) Split 5 Spoke ( I like them too ) it will stand out a bit. And it's still a genuine Ford Stang wheel

I appreciate all the feedback, it really helps with making the right decisions, especially when spending money is involved.

i have 255/45/17 on the front of mine and there is not problems. i have the eibach sportslines which is 1.8-2" drop and theyre on 9 wheels. its also sad that i have 275/40s on the back cause theyre 10.5" wheels. 315's will hopefully on next summer.

Are there any issues with the quad shocks when you go to a 275 or larger in the rear?

I had no problem with them. ran the wheels with the quads for about a summer and a half and everything was good. i took them off when i got the control arms though. i heard that if you wanna go larger you can flip the quad shocks to get a little more space
