1) Is either engine (with their respect T5 manuals) a direct bolt in?

2) cast for forged cranks?

I tried some searches and nothing was useful.

Thanks.

I would think that you could get the right K-member to bolt either one into a Fox. Especially with the 99-04 ones since the bodies are still almost identical to a Fox. The 05+ might be a little less of a bolt-in application since they are a different platform to start with.

Are you slowly working your way up to 8 cylinders? :biglaugh:

No disrespect to anyone here but if your starting from scratch do the V8. You will not spend much more initially and will spend less for more gains in the future. JMO.:awsome:

Also, if your set on the v6 check out super six motorsports.

that may be true, but I want to do something different.

originally was going to do a turbo 2.3 swapped into an 87-93, but to get the power levels I want its actually going to be easier (and possibly cheaper depending on the route I go) to make a 3.8 twin turbo.

I was thinking of the 5.0 route but its been done to death. Moreover, I was going to build my own standalone (ok, solder my own standalone together from a kit) and the sensors and ignition system on the 99-04 3.8's have some advantages over the 5.0 for the kit I want to use, IMO.

There is a certain silver snake I want to try and keep up with, but do it in an unorthodox fashion. :awsome:

So, all that being said, are the 3.8's a cast or forged crank?

I believe the cranks in 3.8's are cast.

I was going to put this locomotive engine in my truck bed but I didn't want to deal with having to put in 3/4 ton springs.

Notice she's already got twins....:woot1:

good call! thats a lot cheaper than what I thought. Is it basically the same block that they use in the new GT500 or is it a different block?

A 5.4 dohc in a fox would be really cool.

yeah but in looking at pics of the install its going to be REALLY cramped to fit a turbo in there. I dont know. I could get a turbo 4 setup done for less than 2500 including motor. Id be stuck in the 350-500HP mark though which is the only downer.
