Here is a video from the weatherly hillclimb from sunday, where I ran my stock 95 M3. The car was forced into duty after I put the mustang into a guardrail at another hillclimb in maryland a couple months ago. I have the wreck and some other runs from that car I'm working on posting as well. A friend of mine posted this for me, he's trying to get the other one's up in the next couple of days. Just for reference, the mustang was 5 and a half seconds faster up the hill than the BMW.

Was that one turn toward the top with wheels up?

Yeah, I got about a foot of air off of turn five, it's the same place the picture of the mustang in the air was taken.

That's all for the year, but the video's from the mustang are way better. He should have them up very soon, I'll post them as soon as he does.

That's awesome.
A few questions: (1) You can do this on a street car with minimal fuss, or you need a roll cage etc., SCCA comp license etc.? (2) How do you practice using both lanes since presumably, they only close the road for a few hours during this event? (3) Was the crown in the center of the lane tricky to deal with, or is it not that severe?
Thanks.

First, you have to have a roll bar (simple 4 point bolt-in), as well as a fire suit, shoes, and gloves. Second, you don't practice. You can drive up the road at night, but there are usually no practice runs. And third, the crown of the road at that event isn't too bad, but even there the tires usually spin in the mustang when I cross it. On one hill we run, Rose Valley, the crown is brutal. I have video from there from two months ago, the crown is so severe that it acts like a jump there. I going to see my buddy that has the footage tomorrow at the north park autocross, I'm gonna get on his back to post the video.

that stinks is the car fixable?

It was stock long block with Wick's t-trim strapped to it. It had a stock short block with gt40p's and an n-41 but I blew that up (have that on video too). And the car isn't really fixable, it ripped the core support out and tweaked the roof.

Wow mark...just had a chance to finally see this video...that looked rough...maybe 35-45mph impact speed? Based on what I saw I wouldn't expect the car to be worth while to fix considering how cheap rollers are. I also enjoyed seeing the M3 run...i'm sure the mustang up the same hill is a completely different video. :pinkthumb:
Are you running on street rubber?

I was at 5500 rpm in third when I hit, probably hit at around 85-90. The car was pretty twisted chassis wise, wasn't worth fixing. I was on hoosier A3S05's on that run.

So are these hill climb's typically within a couple hr drive of pgh?

Cumberland (where the wreck happened) is the closest, but most are 4-5 hours away.

Is this event part of the (PHA)? I just read an article about it on an 03' Mach 1 in the March 09' MM&FF mag. Was pretty interesting!

Yes, it is one of the events we do in the PHA. The article doesn't really... well I don't even want to get into it. If you are intersted in more hillclimb vids, here is a link to some of mine, have something quite a bit more serious in store for this year if I get off my lazy ass!
