No never had any problems with my 2000 GT. It's like half a quart if that every oil change. I'd look and check out the PCV setup. I'd say maybe valve seals, but with the low milage I doubt it....hmm you have a good puzzle on your hands.

mac long tubes are notorious for causing that. my 03 gt with 2k miles burned oil like it was cool after the mac lt install, you should have seen it smoke out the dyno bays at kauffmans and stropes:yes:
My 2000 Gt when I had it used 1.5 qts just going to Bradenton from Cranberry. About 1400 miles.
My 2004 GT seems to use a little oil but has no leaks and doesn't smoke that I have noticed. I run 5w20 Royal Purple. Course high rpm launches may be to blame as the cams whip the oil into a nice mist to get pulled into intake.

how do headers cause oil consumption?
From my experiences with motors going thru that much oil. It could be several issues. could the the PCV system sucking in oil, or it could be a cracked ring gland. these are two common findings with the LSX community and im sure its the same for a Mod motor

From what I've heard, because of Mac's poor build quility, the slag inside the header from the poor welds were getting sucked back into the motor and scoring the cylinder walls causing bad blow by.

thats the first i heard that. if thats the case then wouldnt that be in the installer? I mean I dont install a part and not inspect it before installing. and if it is scoring the motor then i would file a lawsuit against Mac. Now if it did score the walls then you need to rebuild motor.

My 2000 GT ate qt every 3k. My 99 Crown Vic P71 (was non PI) DRANK OIL LIKE MAD. 1.5 every 3K like nothing. Not sure why. My Push rod motors dont use oil. Guess I will see what the Linclon does.

this is a mystery to me, i rebuilt this engine 25k ago, from top to bottom, it has no leaks at all and blows no smoke, but it still eats 1-1.5qts between changes. i have ben told by some people that there cars just use oil, my 5.4l truck eats a qt between changes but it has 180k on it..

the oil ring might of took a shit, could possibly have a bad ring seat, could be the pcv sucking in oil. its smoking but not where you notice it. a motor doesnt go thru oil and dont smoke. noticed with the LSX family under WOT it sucks oil thru the PCV but its hardly noticable if any notice. but they still go thru oil every oil change period

The older type Mac headers had weld slag down in them and they caused many a bad motor.
They have since fixed the problem with the newer sets.
No fault of the installer IMO. Do you extrude hone all of the new long tube headers that you install? That's the only way I can see to know that all slag is out since you can't see all the way down the tubes.

headers man i never heard that. and for it to suck passed the exhaust valve and not affect how the valve seals to teh seat...I just dont see the slag doing it but if it did thats interesting and I dont think Mac would be in buisness if this was the case. The case is the motor is consuming oil, so it either has blowby or poor crankcase ventalition.

This was happening to a few people and was discussed in length on the corral. MAC was aware of the mishap and claimed they rectified the issue.

both motors in my Lightning have used alot of oil. Pcv systems on these like to suck oil. However i eliminated mine and i still go through 1.5 qts between oil changes and i have less than 10k on my bottom end.

thanks for the imput guys..I think i have come to the conclusion that some of these motors just use a little oil......that very well may be the case, it makes me scratch my head though. i have owned 7 modular powered fords and other than the mac long tube car, i have never burned oil or consumed oil. i usually use motorcraft oil and if i don't i always use the recommended weight oil...who knows

Yeah Tim mine uses when I drive it hard, my sisters 97 GT did and my buddies 2000 did. I have a slight leak only at a cold start up but I know of a few ppls that have need to add old regularly b/c they shift at red line lol. I think it is just a mod motor thing.
