View Full Version : Fox Hooker Long Tubes on SN-95

I'm attempting to install the 6222 headers on my '94 Cobra. The passenger side fits perfectly and even clears my Mcleod safety bellhousing. Three of the four primary tubes separate and make installation and starter access very easy. The driver's side is a bit challenging since the one tube is rusted/seized together. If I can get it apart, I think I can install the header without unbolting the steering shaft. I will let everyone know how it goes.

I see that the headers were set up for a crank case evac system (check valve probe in collectors) and that the O2 sensor bung is located in one of the primaries vs. the typical placement in the collectors. I wonder if it effects the accuracy of the A/F since it samples only 1 cylinders exhaust instead of a combination of the 4 on one bank??

Good luck on the rest of the install!:pepper:

These headers have seen better days. If they fit, then I will sandblast them and repaint them with VHT. I took a chance on them for $200, which included the matching Hooker H pipe. I was wondering that myself about the O2 only sampling one cylinder. I guess if all four cylinders are the same, then it "shouldn't" matter. The guy I bought them from ran them this way on a '89 5.0 for 5 years without problems. He also had them on a race car for a while, which is why they have the evac mods.

are those 1.3/4" tubes??

They are 1 5/8" and a true 3 inch race collector. All tubes are equal length.

Ohh, I thought they were 1 3/4 also.
I just picked up a set of Mac Ceramic coated 94-95 Mustang 1 3/4" Headers
w/ 3" collectors in Mint condition for my ride.

Hit a brick wall with my install. The number 8 primary tube is rusted/seized and it will not separate without destroying the headers. I tried a torch, PB Blaster, liquid penentrant and spent 4 hours trying to separate it. I am returning the headers and getting my money back. It does "look" like these 6222's would have fit my sn-95. I know for sure the passenger side fits.

I was able to finally separate the seized primary tube using an acetelyne torch. Once properly heated, they came right apart very easily. I then fitted them up and they fit my 94 cobra with the Energy Suspension motor and trans. mounts perfectly. The driver's side even clears the Mcleod bellhousing without any grinding needed. No need to even jack up the motor since the tubes are removable. :laughing1:

Watch those Energy Suspension engine mounts man. They dented my old MAC 1 5/8" longtubes. They allowed more movement than the stockers. Believe it or not. Now that's with a semi-aggressive leave.:o I've since switched to solid's out of the LMM camp.

I found an AFM B41 used cam for $125. That will be going in this winter. Rick A. told me that cam would be perfect for my goals. Pulling the engine and tranny in the next few weeks. Tranny is going to Hoss' gear shop for new synchros. Rehone and rering for my 347. I wanted to fit the headers before removing the engine and tranny to make sure they fit. Now, I will strip and repaint the headers.

Way to go Bob!!!!
I knew if you kept with it you'd get that F$#%#*g header apart!! Maybe the Kroil had a little to do with your eventual success?!?! :sticktonge: I can't wait to hear what that beast sounds like once you have it all back together with thsoe headers on & the new cam in there.
Heading out to the garage now to get a little work done on the GT.
Congrats again!! :goodidea: :pepper::laughing1:

Make sure you use the correct springs for it.

I will probably just buy the AFM recommended springs for the B-41. I have the AFR upgraded springs, but too many people have told me they are junk.

The VHT paint looks pretty good, not as good as ceramic but I am happy with it. Thanks again to INSANELY CRAZY for sandblasting them. Even though they are Fox headers, they fit my sn-95 very well. I had to use 2 Audell clamps(not sure of spelling) to hold the starter wires and clutch cable away from the headers. I fastened these insulated clamps to the oil pan bolts.
Looking good Robert. When you thinking of firing it up?

Possibly next Sunday. It should be ready by then. I can throw the front accessories and upper intake on in approx. 4 hours. My time to work on it is limited mon - fri. I do most of my work when my wife and kids are asleep. You are not far from this situation either.:D Oh yeah, and the tranny has to go in yet also. Meineke charge me $45 to weld those O2 bungs into my collectors. I thought that was a bit high, but not sure.

Very nice bud!!
I need to get me one of those Lokar dipsticks.:awsome:

The design of the Lokar dipstick is excellent. The attaching bracket is flexible and bends/pivots into many positions. The tube is O-Ringed where it mounts to the block. Well worth the $45 IMO.
