Has anyone had the experience of replacing the door weatherstripping on an '87 Hatchback? I noticed that mine is split on the bottom of the driver side...maybe a mechanic did it whenever. Are there any secrets or special tools needed? THANKS!!

Very simple. Laurel mountain sells the stripping pretty cheap. All you need is some cutters because it is a bit longer than what you need. You need to loosen sone trim and remove the pillar trim to put it on. Its less than an hour job. Might as well get the hatch weather strip too. Its bad, trust me. It tears over time. Not by your mechanic.

That was one of the most amazing things iever did to my Capri. I put in a new hatch weather strip and a new striker. Made the hatch shut like new, and absolutley NO noise back there. It was amazing.

just replaced my weatherstripping on my '87 GT two days ago, was fairly easy, loosen a few screws, take some panels off, remove old stripping, snap new on, cut new to fit, put panels back on, put screws back in, and your done...

Did the same on my '87. Doors shut like a new car. Almost have to slam the door to get it shut all the way!

Which panels come off just in case? Are these the B pillar and upper door panels? Thanks.

A pillar, upper panel, and loosen the panel with the upper seat belt attachment..
