... just to clarify, I cannot upgrade any powertrain options, or I would have made my choice already for the SRT-8 Charger. :D
I've read a few reviews on the 500. The car weighs almost 4K and it's got 203HP. teh testers wanted a bigger motor. :(

I recently rented a Charger and must say im impressed with the ride quality and also the cabin room. 4 people are lost in there, yes, even with me driving with the seat the whole way back.

I put my flame suit on...
If it was me, I'd pick the escape hybrid. I'm looking at the bigger picture here in terms of finding ways to put the screws back to the oil companies. If we all do our part to save fuel when we can (because we all know none of us do it in our stangs!) it will help to bring the demand for oil down. I have an escape XLT V6 right now and it's almost paid off and I've been looking at what other vehicles are out there. I don't plan to buy one anytime soon, but I can almost garantee that my next vehicle will be a hybrid. For shits and giggles I went an looked at a new escape hybrid as well as a lexus RX400 hybrid. There was more than $15000 difference in their sticker price, but for a 3 year lease the lexus was only $30 more/month due to the residuals. I don't think I'll ever "buy" a hybrid though, I'll only lease them. The battery pack in the escape hybrid is only warrentied for 80K miles and its nearly $8000 to replace it if it fails!
On a side note, my cousin has a ford 500 FWD with the V6 and she's getting mid-high 20mpg right now and tipped 30mpg highway on a recent trip to VA. That's about what I get in my DD focus!

I've made the decision five times and changed my mind. Funny thing is, if there's a vehicle somewhere in our company in the Northeastern US that isn't being driven, it'll get transferred to me no matter what it is. So, I might not get to make the decision after all, but it's fun to think about it.
