I currently have a Victor Jr Intake on my 306 with a 600 CFM Holley Double Pumper. Its a single plane intake and I am wondering if it would be better to go with a dual plane due to my car seeing mainly street driving. What benefits / negatives would I see in swapping to like a performer rpm?
The car has a 306 with stock heads (as far as I know), Z cam, BBK Shorties, BBK Offroad H pipe and 2 chamber flows.

Only thing I could tell ya from my chevy days is I always liked the single plane intakes better. The dual planes have become better but, I still think the singles givemore performance over all. You might pick up a lil torque on the bottom end with a performer rpm. But for the price of the swap it isnt worth it to me.

I also just read that it is recommended to run a 750 or bigger carb on a victor jr. 750 cfm is to big for my engine, Anyone else have any suggestions thx Hidalgo

How is the car running with the current set up? I used to run an old torker with a 600 douple pumper and it worked ok. I run a 750 dbl pumper on a dual plane with a 1" spacer(intake came on the motor not my choice so I added the spacer). Plan to put a victor jr on it when I redo the truck. If your car runs fine now and doesnt load up or bog then I wouldnt worry about it much. If you knew someone who had one laying around you could try a swap to see if you gain anything. Being your heads aren't large port heads I dont think you have to worry about the 750 recomendation.

Well I pulled the valve covers today and found some good things, they are not stock heads. They are World Products Victor Jrs with stud mount roller rockers. I keep finding more and more good things about the car the more I check it out.

Could be why you havent had any issues. Other thing you could do is get a temp. gun and check each header tube see if any are hotter then the other front/back and adjust for that if the carb has the 4 corner idle screws. Seems like the combo is running well. Had it to the track yet?

I haven't had it to the track yet? It's an hour and a half drive to the nearest track. I want to try to get to the track this summer and see how it does.
The carb only has the 2 idle screw that i've seen so thats not an option. I am going to rejet it with a friends recommendations and see how it does.

Well I drove it for the first time on the highway and wow what a difference it makes when you have a car that is built right and no shody machine shop work. This thing pulls great all the way through the RPM range and I didn't even get over 5500 rpm in it. :laughing1::pepper::woot1:
All that is left is to get the carb jetted to better match the setup. It smells like it is running rich and every once in a while it puffs a lil smoke when its been idling for a while like its loading up.

They are World Products Victor Jrs
this is why the vic jr works on that small inch motor.
