Ok im getting to the point where i am beginning to hate my car. Twice today, there is a humming/moaning type noise coming from under the hood, and the rpms dance around, between 200 to 1500, i shut it off and started it and it was fine, it did it again and i just let it go and it went back to normal.
I have two theories on this.
1) IAC Valve is acting up, but would this explain the weird noise?
2) Power Steering Pump making noise but what would account for the rpms?
Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks guys.

the rpm variation sounds like a vac leak but im not sure what would cause the noise
did you ever think that it could be two separate problems?

...and this is the 2nd or 3rd time you "cleaned" that IAC valve after we told you to buy a new one AND you broke one of the bolts AND you think it's tight enough. Air molecules are really really small. I bet some of them are getting in there where the bolt is broke and the 1/2-assed so-called cleaned IAC is probably acting up.
If I was your car, I would hate you more than you're hating it right now.
Fix the bolt and spend $70 clams... get a brand new IAC, anchor it down correctly and report back to us. :awsome:

no, Ed hired me to take his place when he's busy with the new bebe.
could be your throttle position sensor, too. sometimes they go bad. somebody on here can tell you how to check it with a voltmeter and where it's supposed to be. :awsome:

I think the problem is you don't have a blower, if you had a blower the noise it makes would be totally acceptable..

sometimes, but would that account for the weird noise it makes?.....im gonna replace the fuel filter, iac valve, and pcv valve and see what happens.

if your filter is clogged, the pump is fighting to push fuel through it. sitting in your car, you might think the moaning/groaning/humming is coming from under the hood, but it might be the pump.

Or change the fuel filter like Troll said
Fuel filters should be changed every 20k miles....they're cheap and easy...kinda like you Clark!
