ok so want to know wats some good things to do to build my auto tranny, i was thinking tranny cooler, stall, and i have the b an m hammer shifter in the car now and i would like to do a manual valve body so i could actually shift it with out blowing it up shifting it now, but i was wondering if anyone knows if they make a manual valve body where you can shift it, or if you dont feel like it you can just leave it in drive>? thanks, and any suggestions would help, and no im not going to swap in a 5 spd. thanks guys:goodidea:

I had mine fully built with all new clutches and internals. You will def need a tranny cooler. I didnt do a manual valve body but you can get one from PA performance. They are pretty pricy though. Your going to have to shift it below your factory rev limiter i would believe.

that site gave me nothing i couldnt find anything on there bout 4r70w. i know manually shifting the tran is bad, but i like to just keep it in drive sometimes, with a man valve body can you do both like is there one out there that has both features, and whats some of your own experiences with doing things or what do you guys have done to your autos.

Performance Automatic reverse manual valve body with a Trans brake is around $2100.....without the brake...$1800. They have a lifetime guarntee.
Depending on what converter you want.....figure $400 to $800 for a performance. (TCI)
Tranny cooler $150 (B&M)

I don't know of any reverse manual valve body tranny that you can leave in gear still drive.....thus the "manual" part.

I run the AOD in mine which is fully built. I only have about $1500 in it for everything. I deal with Art Carr all the time and i'm extremely happy with them and their prices. Your tranny is different so I don't know that much about yours. I got a good converter, hardened input shaft, manual valvebody, deep pan, tranny cooler, and the super overhaul kit. I love it and race it every weekend bracket racing and never had a problem. It's been in the car for five years. I know they make a valvebody that is made for shifting it or leaving it in drive for mine but not sure about yours. You can call them ask for tech tell them what you have and what you want to do with it and they will help you.

Performance automatic also makes a street/strip valvebody that lets you shift when you want but will shift normal in drive. Also I def recommend the converter and cooler. As far as the converter goes I would check out BC-Automotive. If you call them up they will give you a recommendation based on your combination. I'm gonna say a 4200 stall is what will work best for you. Hope that helps.

Your going to spend around 1000 for a good converter. DONT buy a cheap one. Valve body is likely around 800 or so. Your going to have some bucks into it but build it right the first time so you dont have to worry about it later.

wow thanks guys i appreciate it, would it be smarter to buy an already built tranny? or just do it right and build mine up. i wanna have the function of shifting it when racing and just keeping it in drive when im just cruising around town so i will def check carr and performance automatic. i appreciate everyones opinions and what they have done to their own automatics

PA= Lifetime warranty.....

Their lifetime warranty isn't as good as it sounds read the fine print. It doesn't cover everything. I can't remember all the details because it has been a few years since i talked to them but when deciding on the company I was going to choose it the warrenty wasn't making up for what they lacked.

Just my two cents.

balaska347 on the one link you wrote on this thread with the valve body, is that the one that is both manual, and auto?

Yeah the link I gave you is for the manual/auto valvebody. They sell another one that is a Full manual valvebody that you have to shift all the time. I run the B&M supercooler that is 24,000 GVW. I like it, it is strong and works well.

My Dad has there Super Comp tranny(in his race car)...We had it completely replaced twice. No questions or problems at all....Shifts like a MOFO too....
