Im a very big fan of the kenne bell superchargers but depending on how much power you eventually want depends on whether i would suggest that. you probly couldn't get more than 600 because the biggest blower you can get is a 2.1 i think (dont hold me to that). These blowers are awesome for street cars ( i speak from experience ) and are awesome to drive.
your other options are centri blowers and turbos. centri blowers are the cheapest option but still very reliable and a good option. turbos are the most expensive but have the most potential.
i suggest either a KB 2.1 or a Paxton Novi 2000
im sure other people will have different opinions. if you wanna feel what a kb feels like i can give you a ride but it wont be in a mach 1 because i have an 01GT

The Vortech is a very popular Mach 1 kit.
I suggest stopping by www.Mach1Registry.com (http://www.Mach1Registry.com) and seeing what other people are doing.

Pro-charger and never look back, well you probably will have to see the person you are racing

Procharger = leaky seals and alot of trips back to procharger for repairs.

X2 , vortech is the only way to fly, the v2 is one of the best entry level chargers ever made.. I have seen them support 550 to the wheels..

I have a v1 s-trim and see 515 rwhp with stock heads and intake.
I know of a couple cars with v2's that have exceeded 600 HP on a 2v with no nitrous. But that was with a totally built long block, aftermarket intake, intercooler, and spinning the crap out of it.

Since the Mach 1's have the DOHC engine like the Cobras, does it also have the same forged rotating assembly?

on a mach 1, the block is aluminum unlike the cobra's iron block.
also, the only thing forged is the crank....and thats only on the 5speed. for some reason the autos dont have a forged crank. why did ford do this? who knows! lol

I like my procharger. I prefer centr. over the roots type like whipples and KB's. They make boost FAST but that leads to traction problems. I've never owned a Vortec but have owned two pro chargers and put ALOT of miles on them with ZERO problems. Maybe I'm lucky

You may want to look back to see the aluminum impellor exploding and blowing out the exhaust...hehe I sold them all, and if somebody gave me a procharger I'd sell it and buy a vortech, paxton, kb, or whipple. I've seen to many problems with them over the years, and they suck for customer service. I've spent many hours on hold just to send a blower back to have the leaking seals fixed :(
