Well well well...
with thousdands of cars, i figured I could find a 99+ v6 i could pillage...
nope...
BUT I remember that 96+ windstars have a split port and the intake looks damn good so I figured "why not"? Plus the exhaust manifolds are perfectly setup for a twin turbo setup.
Also a bunch fo 94-95 cars to rape for spindles. Cant wait to get back there to get what I couldnt grab with limited tools this time.
With their prices, I'll get the upper, lower, heads, and exhaust manifolds for less than $100.00!! w00t!

windstar intake will not clear a stock hood....but im sure you knew that
also you need to fab a throttle cable bracket i think (cant remember that off hand)

sh1t... i forgot about that... well I already bought a stock hood so I'll have to figure something out... maybe I'll just keep the upper cause it looks cool and since it was only $18 bucks for the upper.
As for mecca, its out on the east side of the state... Harrys. They have 3 locations. Their webiste is:
http://www.wegotused.com/
at least one week every month has any trans for $35 and any engine for $65 in their hazleton location.

as an aside, the first iteration of my project is NA mode. Im using the motor as-is. Once the car is inspected and sorted out thats when the split port goes on, and I might take a sawzall to the stock hood to give me the clearance.
There's plenty of time to sort out the split port intake... at least a month or so :)

I did some more research on this.
Long and the short of it is if you relocate the IAC and throttle cable bracket you have 90% of what it takes to clear a stock 99-04 hood. Whether or not the engine sits higher/lower in a fox with respect to hood clearance I dont know, but I'll play it by ear when the time comes for that :goodidea:

Hey Silvernotch! Road motha-fukin' trip!
BTw i saw a couple of cheap motels within a 15 minute drive of the place, so depending on what you want to get, it might pay to do an overnight visit instead of getting up at 0-dark:30, driving 4 hours, pull parts, and drive 4 hours back.

Harry's is the shit. I used to go to the one in Hazelton about once every 2-3 months when I went to school in Williamport. Everythings under a hundred dollars and the specials are pretty good too.

Load them up in the new SuperCrew Diesel and hit the road!
two big points:
1) no power tools
2) no jacks
they do have engine hoists you can rent for a nominal fee (I think its $3.00 an hour or something) and most cars are jacked up so that you can get to anything.
just a heads up so you dont pack what you cant use.

Yeah, they are all sitting up on old wheels and blocks. Just make sure they're stable before you climb under. I was about to get a trailer hitch off a blazer when I leaned on the rad support and the car started to wobble. They also have tool/parts carts for like a dollar an hour and torches and other major tools.

Dam you guys are making me anxious to go!:highfive: They run any deals? Like all you can carry day for $X?
phillysrt4
04-28-2008, 08:45 PM
well they run both daily and weekly specials. They dont run any "all you can carry for X" deals, but they have a week each month where an entire engine is $65.00. Im going to call tomorrow and get clarification on what accessories are included, but I assume if its still bolted to the block it counts as part of the engine.
you can see the deals and more information at the link i posted earlier in the thread.
Ive been to both the Hazleton and Pennsburg locations, and both are good, but I give the edge to hazleton just for the deals they offer.

Update:
They updated their specials at all 3 locations for the Month of May.
At Hazleton, PA from Sunday May 4 to Saturday May 10, any transmission you can pull is $35.00!!
There is also an upcoming special on June 14 in Allentown which they are calling the "$1.00 blowout sale" which I assume means every part is only $1.00. I'll definately be getting more details on that for everyone in case a roadtrip is in order.
