Ok here is the problem. Two weeks ago I go to PRP and run a 14.2@ 97 with stock gears (3.08's) Now I go there today after installing 4.10's and run a 14.2@98. (14.2@98.Now) My 60 ft. time is awesome now(1.8) and 1/8th mile time is way improved, but after that its like peaked out it and wants 5th gear right at the finish line.My question is how do i get some more top end without changing gears again????

What was your 60' with the 3.08s?

Average around a 2.3

Something isnt right. Generally every .1 in the 60' is good for .2 tenths off the 1/4.
Doing that you should be in the mid to low 13s since you dropped your 60' by .5.
Check your timing, maybe change plugs and wires. Your car must be dead on top end.

Thats a good start.I will try some new plugs and wires and see whats up from there. Its insane i can be ahead by a good car length at the 1/8th mile and just watch em pull away. Thanks man

Check that timing as well. Good luck with it.

if your still curious about this. i would have to say timing issue on this. i had the same thing going on when i put on my slicks. my 60ft dropped from a 2.3 to a 1.6 with the slicks but my times wernt dropping at all. i bumped my timing up a few degrees ran 110 and lost half a second.

The timing is all good and since then I have redone the whole ignition and that helped a lot.Next week Tim is taking out the smog stuff,a/c,and putting on a set of long tubes.I will be at the next TNT and see where I am at after that.

Did you run out of breath...meaning going thru the traps at a RPM that your engine is no longer makin good power. . . If I were to mess with the timing it would be to take some out of the car...more timing normally adds more bottom end...you don't need that as much with the 4.10's

You are not running out of top end with those 4.10's. With a 26" tall tire and a 98 mph trap speed your finish line rpm is in the neighborhood of 5,200 rpm in 4th (1:1)

How many miles are on the car? The valves may be floating if the valve springs are tired.

Not running out of top end at all, just not making good power at higher rpm's."Its revving like a bitch just not moving"
