Well the junkyard mission was successful! Got all the parts I need for the swap and im gonna be ready to go. All I need is to get the parts cleaned up and get a gasket set and I'm in business!

That place is a great deal! What I wound up getting was from a ford windstar:

-Cylinder heads (complete valvetrain in reasonable condition) with valve covers
-Exhaust manifolds (i originally wasn't going to, but I liked the way they pointed straight down and were as equal length as I was goign to get. looked easy to get a turbo hooked on the end of each one)
-Upper and lower split-port intake (with IMRC built in, but I deleted it already due to the turbo application)
-Fuel rail with fuel injectors that look in great condition

Total cost for everything less than $200.00!

What i like the most is that the cylinder heads are in great shape. They have a touch of corrosion from being in an engine exposed to the elements for a copule of weeks, but the engine only had 100k on it before it quit (according to the odometer in the windstar). The only down side is that the previous owner didnt understand the importance of changing oil. sludge all over the bottom end :(

Still, I think a good cleanup and possibly some fresh pushrods and its ready to get swapped. I cant wait to see this thing run! :)

Sounds like a good score day. Too bad none of the yards have junk for me.

I was keeping an eye out for ya! they actually had four thunderbird turbocoupes with intact motors, three of which still had their (IHI) turbos but I ran out of time and couldn't pull them this go around.

As an aside, every tbird used IHI right? these looked like older (85 or 86 since they had drum brakes on the rear) Tbirds. I wasn't sure if they used garrett's or IHI's through their build years.

As for xr4ti's or SVOs, sorry, the one 4eye I found was picked hard. :(

No!

The 83 to 86 turbo coupe (4 eye) are T3's. the 87/88 TC only are the IHI. The eraly T3's are .60 compressor / and either .48 (auto) or .63 (stick) turbines. That is if its as delivered on the car, so many turbo's dead.

DOH! now im kicking myself for not trying to make an effort to pull them. the one turbocoupe there had 213k on it, so Im sure its a dead turbo.
