Cruise to Carlisle (Friday morning only)

Anyone heading up to Carlisle for the All-Ford-Nationals on June 6,7,8 and is planning to go Friday morning, I am coordinating a cruise for the PA turnpike.

Last year we had a handful of stangs that caravan'd to Carlisle.

We will be meeting at a reststop (Tammy, post up the name of that reststop again) around 9-10am (stay tuned for final details)

Depending on the weather I may be down for this again. I can't go on Saturday and Sunday this year so I was thinking about heading down for just Friday.

Breezewood Exit – Mile post 161.3

The first rest stop past Breezewood is Sideling Hill Rest Stop – Mile post 172.3

Midway Rest Stop -- I think this is where we all met up last year. I was expecting to travel a while when Bryan and I got onto the Turnpike at the Breezewood exit, but we pulled off right away. Don and a few others pulled in and then we waited for Colin.

Don's first post says 9-10 at the MIDWAY rest stop on the Turnpike, just outside Bedford.

Are you getting on the Turnpike at Willow Hill?? That would only give you a half-hour of driving with the group. That is why I back track and go to Bedford to meet up with them. You can drive along with me to Bedford if you want. We have time to make those arrangements.

I will let Don finalize all the times, as he has to be in Carlisle before noon.

Im already registered for the weekend, but when you get there, you have to register with them anyway. Probably goes a little smoother if you are 'pre-registered'.. but everyone needs to stop at the gate anyway.

I'm sure some of the other guys who have gone more can answer this question better for you. Last year was my first year :goodidea:

When I registerd a few months ago, it was $40. I think it might have went up after a certain date. BUT, I believe it is still cheaper than paying admission each day. You could check out the site and see if you can still pre-register. There's 3 weeks left, they probably still have time to send your card to you.

Im pretty sure im in for the cruise down and so is another guy from down this way....he's got a 96 gt with the ol 5.0 in it...white faded into laser red with the saleen kit on it.

Ok, here is some more info. I have the meeting place, but not the time yet.

My plans fell through so I don't have to be in Carlisle at any specific time, but I am waiting to hear from another person that might be leaving a little later in the morning/afternoon.

So, for now here is what I have:

Anyone interested in cruising from Pittsburgh area (monroeville TPK exit) we will cruise 90 miles till we reach the MIDWAY SERVICE PLAZA (mile marker 147.3 which is 1 mile past the Bedford exit) and pull off and meetup with Tammy and whoever else. We'll take a short break and wait for any late runners

From there we head back onto the PA TPK and travel the final 80 miles to the Carlisle exit (#226) and will proceed to the farigrounds to get our registration out of the way.

I will setup a departure time (or at least an arrival time to be at the Midway Plaza) as soon as I find out, but inital ideas will be around 12:30 or 1 for the Pittsburgh area and pulling into the Midway plaza around 2 or 2:30

I definetly shouldnt have waited till today to look for a hotel, I cant find anything for under like $130 a night, so I might jus be headed down early friday morning and comin back home late friday night :(

Yep, we start planning in January because by March the hotels are pretty much booked up.

Anyone who wants to cruise from da burgh, I am leaving at 12pm noon.
We'll pickup a cobra just past the new stanton exit and roll to the Midway restop (should arrive at the restop around 2PM).

There we will take a short breather and proceed to our final destination.

So here are the checkpoints.

The teal 93 is getting on the TPK at New Stanton and will pull over shortly after until I get close. probably around 12:30 :pepper:

Get on the turnpike and go till you see me sitting on the first available emergency pull off. The first one is almost directly across from the rest stop on the west bound side. Well at least thats the one I'll be sitting at lol...

I just went to Somerset this past weekend so I looked for the easiest place to pull off, as well as had some decent room in case Don (Rush2112) has a couple other cars with him to pull in...
