I'm not sure if my car needs it but i bought a diablo chip a couple years back from rpmoutlet.com out of texas....the tune worked great as far as i can tell..but i got to thinkin and searchin around....to see what everyone else was puttin out power wise..and im wondering if my numbers are low for whats done to it? 173rwhp and like 190rwhtq. It's a v6 with a mac cold air kit, diablo sport chip, and flowmaster true dual exhaust(cats gutted). ive run royal purple motor oil and im still only getting about 23-25mpg. I wondering if it needs to be tuned for a lil more power. I know when it was dynoed a few yrs back just for shits n giggles it was runnin a lil rich. what does everyone think and where are there any good places to get it tuned?

I don't know much about V6s, but I've had two 2V 4.6s. I ordered mail-order tunes for both of them, then like a dummy... went and got a dyno tune. Not worth the money in my opinion. Only picked up a few hp. And the mail-order tune only picked up a few hp over stock. I ran them back to back to back on the first one. Yes, the drivability is slightly better and you know exactly what you got, but for the few hp (and probably fewer with the v6 --- not busting your balls, just stating facts) I don't think a dyno-tune is worth it on an N/A engine.

Now, you slap some type of power-adder on there, then hell yeah. :goodidea:

from what I've read on v6power.net given your scant bolt ons you're in the low side of "normal" for power output. The fuel economy along with running a little rich means you might have room to free up a few more hp.

split port combinations I've seen over there with shorty headers, full exhaust no cats, intake, (4.10) gears and tune are right at or alittle over 200 to the wheels.

Don't bother with the dyno tune... you might pick up a couple (and I do mean "a couple") hp if you get it set up for 93 octane, but I really wouldn't even bother. Big waste of money at this point. Wait till you have some more substantial mods.

200 to the wheels without h/c/i work seems pretty unlikely, even for the 99-04 cars. I won't even begin to give you the laundry list of stuff I had done to my car in addition to h/c/i (before the turbo) and I only made 215rwhp/214rwtq. (Though that was on the lower side of average for cars with my mods at the time.)

i dont think 23-25mpg is that bad for a v6....
