We drove out Friday for the day. We decided to pull out of there when the water started coming up through the track, later found out that was a good move as they were done for the day.

Lots to see your first time, be sure to get yourself a big old nose full of Nitro when they warm the cars, you WILL remeber it for life ;) Try watching a round from near the starting line, but make sure you catch at least a few Nitro passes from the big end. Whole different perspectives.

Yep first time I saw nitro was last year at Norwalk and it's just an amazing thing to see, hear and FEEL. Sat in Mattio sec 1c last two years and it's a blast. Take ear plugs and you may even want to cover ears when they launch on a pass. Then comes the pounding you feel in the chest and your vision actually blurs from the raw power as they leave. Burnouts aren't quite as loud. If you can get close to them in pits when they fire up take a nice deep breath

Sucks to not be able to see them friday. They did try their hardest to get track in condition to race but after 5 hours they had to call it. Saw Prostock Bike and a few pairs of Prostock cars before the water showed Water coming up thru track in shutdown, then found at 330' left lane again near 100' in left lane. They did start to apply VHT and drag track when alot of people were at 1000' mark with another water issue. Thats about when it was called. Bader Jr said any tickets from friday were good for saterday or sunday, get full refund or apply cost to next seasons race. He said in al the years family has owned the track he has never seen the amount of rain then recently. Something like 13" of rain. Even John Force made a quick blast down track from topend on the mighty scooter to ease the crowd.

Fireworks display was awesome for those that stayed to see it. I got home around 1:30am

I was suprised they did get qualifying all in today.

wow, just WOW! it was as awesome, actually better than i hoped. Anyone who has never gone you have to.. Those top fuel dragsters are insane esp. standing down near the track on the fence.... 2 hours to get out of the parking lot wasnt fun though...

If you know / remember, how about letting me know who the tour company was for this. I like to go to the races, but most of them are 3+ hours away, so a bus trip sounds like a good idea ;) It was a nice morning drive UP to Norwalk, was ready to park and take a nap on the way home ;)

The beauty of drag racing is that every ticket is a pit pass. One way to wait out the traffic is to go back over to the pits and cruise through, talk to the drivers and crew, gets pics and autographs, etc. My buddy went with his son Sunday, his son's first national event, said it was one of the best father-son days they ever had. That's good stuff.
