    EBAY Help

Anyone have any tips or suggestions on posting cars on EBAY?

My biggest question is... How do you handle transactions if someone from say California buys your car. How do you transfer the title? What's the best method of payment? And so on...

I have sold two vehicles on ebay but both buyers picked the cars up in person. All I did for title was handed them the title signed and made them sign a bill of sale so that I could have proof that the car as no longer mine for the DMV. As far as payment I accepted paypal for the deposit of which I required a $500 non refundable deposit but that can be based on the price of the car you are selling. I also would only accept certified funds for the remainder of the balance. Do not accept western union or other money transfers, I've had people ask me to accept these and it was a scam to try and get me to end the auction and be out the listing fees.

In the long run I'd say for payment do what you feel comfortable accepting. And as far as title work if the car is leaving the state I would have the bill of sale notarized so its legit.

get a deposit within 24 hrs via paypal/or at the time the auction ends.. then get the rest in cash when they come to pick it up. i recommend geting the title transfered when they come to pickup the car. yea you can get a notorized b.o.s. but i never trusted that. do the title at the time they come, cause if you sign the title and hand it over, it leaves the title open (tech thats illegial)...

If they show up in person to pick up the vehicle I definitely say to have the title transfered at the time of pick up as well. Thats the way both of my sales went. My father-in-law sold his firebird on ebay and the guy came and picked it up and they did the title transfer on the spot. If that is an option I agree with insanely and say get it transfered then.

if the buyer comes from out of state you can't transfer the title.
best you can do is sign the title, have buyer sign and have both sigs notarized.

I think it all depends if the reserve is set fairly. I know some guys, their reserve is set for more than they actually want for the car, because it does something with their listing fees or ??? I don't know the "ins and outs" of Ebay... just learning.

You can get the title notarized and out of ouyr name. It costs 5 dollars. I have done it numerous times. Then who ever gets their hands on it owns it basically.
