Yes. Most of the real aggressively tuned motors blow just after the 1000'. Those cars will still be able to do 300mph but I think it's getting the race done in shorter track and having that extra 320' for slowing down. Least they didn't goto 1/8 mile.
I'd expect Englishtown to not be on race schedule next season unless shutdown is changed up dramatically. Over on Hardcore5.0 a few have mentioned using softwall tech like in Nascar. Which is not a bad idea. Especially on second half of track where speeds are reaching "ludicrous speed". 1000' better then 1/8 but of course not 1/4. Hopefully they figure something out and return to 1/4 racing in Top Fuel.
I do love how NHRA is trying to find out why those motors are blowing up. I dunno maybe something about running at the verge of hydrolocking with all the fuel that is pumped into motor. One weak lil part or tiny detail overlooked and boom.

WTF 1/4 mile drag racing is like green grass or a blue sky. Its just the way it should be. I'm sorry the guy died, but if you drive 300 MPH in under 6 seconds you are taking a chance.
I don't think fans will even notice to be honest.

Well, the one's that DO NOT notice are indeed the NHRA's marketing target these days it seems. Lots of tradition flushed for 1/5th mile racing, or maybe it Metric, or what the hell ever 1000' feet is.
Heck, I though the 1000' info was on the timeslip so I could figure out what to dial in the next round after lifting bracket racing. Here it's a whole other race track.
Blowing them up at 1000' is real simple, its the rev limiter they mandated and the crew chiefs that are using it to tune the cars.

this is stupid. sure the cars might start blowin up at 1000 when theyre racin 1320 but what do you thinks gonna happen now. theyre gonna start blowin up at 800. basically they should look into the tracks and how they stop cars that are out of control. even look at the last race. there was nothing after the gravel pit but a field. i cant remember who it was in qualifying that made it out there, but there was a tree at the end of the field and they immediately cut it down. i think they should go with some kind of safety fence/netting and NO WALLS.
