As stated above, people die doing stupid stuff every day and it's a horrible thing, but you can't put the FUN NAZI rules into effect for everything in your life. Why don't we all just strap pillows all over our bodies and live in a bubble? God forbid we go outside. We might get skin cancer from the sun or a meteor might randomly hit us. And, then drive a vehicle at all... oh my goodness. Maybe we should get rid of the "dirt section" too. Whizzing through the woods at 50mph on a dirtbike or quad is way more dangerous than driving your steel box down the road at 100mph.

All of you sound like a bunch of panzies even debating the subject. Like Clark said, why do we even own the cars we do. Just go buy a 97hp Honda and be done with it.

glad your against it so much....haha
Good way to make a point.
I vote keep it. afterall where did raceing start? On the streets. Where will it always be? on the streets. If your lucky and get off work in time and can challenge someone to go to the track and get them to pay their way to a beating then by all means go for it. We have all done it and we will keep doing it with or without this so called section. It is like that old lady who sued mcdonalds for being burnt by hot coffeee. It is hot coffee what the hell did she expect. Same goes for street raceing. Maybe instead of bitching about this section and its bad influences that it may or may not have. Rather offer up knowledge to the younger crowd on safer aspects of street raceing. Us with a lil age on us know of certain places to do it in a rather safer enviroment.(i.e. less traffic and such) Afterall it is almost the same as flashlite drags. Will I street race(when the car is finaly done) sure I porbaly will. Am I an idiot for it? Probally in some peoples eyes. Look at kalitta, was that not a sactioned event and he is dead. It can happen anywhere at anytime. On the street you just have to make sure you dont kill bystanders(i.e. Traffic)

The BIG difference being when you're at a track, you and everyone there knowingly assumes that risk.
Joe Public with wife and kids in the car assumes the usual risk of everyday driving. He does not figure there's a chance of him getting plowed into by one or two 10-13 second cars having a speed contest on public roads.
I don't think anyone, (not me at least), is saying, "Don't do it, you'll die." To hell with YOU, it's the innocent bystanders that get the raw deal. If you think it's your right to make them assume that risk, you're an idiot and a self centered moron.

Edit: I don't mean you ,as in "you" in particular.

I understand you point. That is why I said we all know of certain places that have a minimal if not no risk to "Joe Public" being at risk cause of our choice. Pretty much why it should only be done late at nite and in those places. Not, saying I havent done stupid shit at the wrong time on the street. I'm not totally innocent but, after some well deserved counceling from certain people I made sure to only do it where and when it is safer for the innocent bystanders. I think alot of street races deaths occur cause they don't know when to quit (i.e 1/4 mile) and they just keep going til someone fooks up or gets scared.

Well said. This is just another example of feel good legislation. It's just like everything else in this country, when something bad happens people start wanting to take something off of everyone else just to make everthing seem ok, this is called liberalism and it's the very disease that's ruining our country, and I hope it does'nt ruin a great car site.

Well it looks like this one has run it's course. Should we close the poll and this thread Lou?

Nobody is ruining a good site. There is nothing wrong with voicing your opinion and most of us who care to vote and reply have done so.

i see what your saying, but unless Joe public grew up in a bubble you should assume that driving has its risks, it doesnt matter if its my mustang going 80, a honda going 80, or a semi going 80, its gonna hurt.

i know what your saying, those kids went to my school. I just dont think that this particular incident ( seeing as it happens every minute) should be the spark that gets rid of the kill section. All my point is, is what would it change?

Now go back and reread what I wrote. I said what I do is probably not a smart move. No "probably" about it, I know it isn't a smart move. But it's an opportunity to enjoy my car. We all love speed.
Maybe that's the key word, opportunity. At 4:30am I know the chances of there being traffic or congestion ahead is very slim. So I weigh the risk and take the chance.
Earlier in this post you were joking with someone about them being Mr. Rt30. Anyone choosing their opportunity on Rt.30 isn't too bright IMO. Lots of curves, dips, red lights, hundreds of places for cars to pull onto the roadway, no place to recover if you lose control, sidewalk and telephone poles two feet off the road in most places, etc. The risk factor is multiplied xxxxxxxxxx times. A good example of youth, adrenaline, inexperience and bad judgement. Combine that with an automobile and you end up with news stories with gory pictures and innocent victims.

Now go back and reread the bottom 6 lines of my post. I'm looking at this from the point of view of the site owner(s).
    I don't street race.
    I cast my vote.
Whether it stays or goes doesn't affect me so much as it affects the owners of the site.

I didn't make that comment, it was made to me....and trust me, when it does happen, theres no traffic, and its gotta be a straight -away or its not happenin.
