Hell, I remember Chris (Cam303) running an Fbody in the middle of Monessen last year?[/QUOTE]

Ya, I am guilty. That was back in 2006. I am not proud of it and did not come on the internet to brag about it. I have not registered the car for street use since then partly because of that.
I don't think this post was put up to cause such a big contraversy. It was put up as a joke to make fun of some of the lame road kill threads that have been started on here in the past. Hell, I don't care what people post. The comic relief is enjoyable sometimes.

for one, i think everyone is missing the point about this. deleting the road kill section isnt gonna stop street racing. thats stupid, and i dont think anyone had that in mind. its the fact that its illegal and many people lose their lives, innocent and guilty, from this and thats where the problem comes from. i dont see any reason why there should be a road kill section. for one, its never a legit race. two, you put people in danger that have no part in it at all. people are gonna street race, whatever. there should not be a section devoted to talking about it online. personally i dont think anyone cares. i never posted or looked it that section because it really doesnt mean jacksh!t. everyone can keep their little "fast and furious" races to themselves and talk about relevant things on the site. i really dont think some dumb little street race needs to be bragged about on an internet forum. run some legit races and then start talking, or get some lambo doors, a gaint wing, and a fart can and start talkin trash on another site.

I'm 48 and done many things I shouldn't have in a car. To this day if I'm working the early shift (5am) I'll let the Mustang rip to well over 100mph on the Parkway east on my way to work. There's very few cars on the road. Smart move? Probably not, but it gives me enjoyment.
There's a fine line between enjoying your car and being negligent.
I race at the track only.
As for getting rid of the Kill forum.
By having it, SteelCityStangs is condoning it. Intentionally or not.
Getting rid of it but allowing it in other forums would be disingenuous. Though it would be a solution to the problem of the site being perceived as condoning it. (You could say you can't police the site all day long.)
Completely banning any mention of it presents the problem of alienating some members. You also WILL have to police the site which will be a pain in someones ass.
It's a tough one. I'm interested in seeing the outcome.

Hey, this is Mrs. CST03. From an outsiders point of view, it looks to me that this site is just a much bigger version of guys standing around talking cars at a cruise or a party. If some guy starts talking about how he waxed somebody else on the way there, are you all really going to say "Well that was really irresponsible of you, please change the subject I really don't want to hear that" or walk away? If you are then you should definitely remove the forum. If you're not, then you would be hypocrites to ask that it be removed. (MR. CST03 says the above remarks are her opinions only and do not necessarily reflect those of the management.) You guys are way too heavy today. Lighten up!!! And give Lou a break!

Speed is what makes street racing dangerous, so its not ok to race, but its ok to go ripping down the highway going that fast? ok...

I think the difference here is that there are not many(any?) places where a driver with his family, kids etc, can pull out and cause you to crash. Not saying that this makes it right, it just hits a nerve with lots of us when you hear about people dying from street racing who are friends, or local folks we might know.

When I posted the poll it was not intended to divide the folks on the site. I was merely trying to see what people think.

I am 40 years old now and I have a lot to lose if I do something stupid so I am WAY more careful than I used to be.

Hell, I street raced all the time when I was younger. I probably got damn lucky to never have had a bad accident. I was there when Dave King flipped his Mustang over the guard rail at Crafton/Thornburg. Thank God nobody was hurt that time. Like I said, one day you luck might just run out.

I don't think I am being hypocritical to say that I think it's wrong. I know a lot more now than when I was young and stupid. Now I am just old and stu.. Ummm nevermind. LOL ;)

You're a young guy, right? If so, I doubt you need reading glasses. If comprehension is the problem, well, that's for a different place and time.

Now go back and reread what I wrote. I said what I do is probably not a smart move. No "probably" about it, I know it isn't a smart move. But it's an opportunity to enjoy my car. We all love speed.
Maybe that's the key word, opportunity. At 4:30am I know the chances of there being traffic or congestion ahead is very slim. So I weigh the risk and take the chance.
Earlier in this post you were joking with someone about them being Mr. Rt30. Anyone choosing their opportunity on Rt.30 isn't too bright IMO. Lots of curves, dips, red lights, hundreds of places for cars to pull onto the roadway, no place to recover if you lose control, sidewalk and telephone poles two feet off the road in most places, etc. The risk factor is multiplied xxxxxxxxxx times. A good example of youth, adrenaline, inexperience and bad judgement. Combine that with an automobile and you end up with news stories with gory pictures and innocent victims.

Now go back and reread the bottom 6 lines of my post. I'm looking at this from the point of view of the site owner(s).
    I don't street race.
    I cast my vote.
Whether it stays or goes doesn't affect me so much as it affects the owners of the site.

this is why most of the people on here that argue thats it wrong are mostly older and have been threw this. including myself, life is set for everyone so if you die racing or die eating a cheeseburger it was meant to happen even if it involved someone else.

going by the poll it's 50% right now....

im just stating that everyone keeps arguing on here bout this and it's pointless. this thread may even turn a few people on each other due to ther opinion's. this is an awesome site to chat/do whatever and it seems to be turning.

glad your against it so much....haha

    haha

On a side note, i don't see a problem with the section - I don't think it portrays SCS as condoning street racing. And I don't say this because i'm an avid street racer - I'm not... I'm in the same boat as Mark... owning a 700rwhp car, I love to open it up, but realize just how quickly things can go wrong on a vehicle that accelerates so rapidly... I won't open the car up in congested or busy area... Risk is inevitable, whether you're putting the hammer down, or gawking at something as ur driving down the road (everyone is guilty of this as well) - the key here is controlling your urges so that this risk can be minimized... I think some of us may do a better job than others - i like to think i do a very good job

See the point now? None of the big name national forums let this fly and if we want to expand and strengthen our site I feel that banning all speak of illegal activities immediately would lead us in this direction.
Yes lets implament another ban, that will surely stop people from doing and talking about it.. I say we also ban any talk of doing illegal mods to cars such as taking off the cats, after all it's for the children

Now, because of gas prices, the government is considering a NATIONWIDE 55mph speed limit... AGAIN. I remember the last time and I'm not that old. If you don't comply, the Feds pull your highway funding.

This country in and of itself (just like street racing that turned into the NHRA from the 50's) was founded with a pioneering, balls-to-the-wall spirit.

As stated above, people die doing stupid stuff every day and it's a horrible thing, but you can't put the FUN NAZI rules into effect for everything in your life. Why don't we all just strap pillows all over our bodies and live in a bubble? God forbid we go outside. We might get skin cancer from the sun or a meteor might randomly hit us. And, then drive a vehicle at all... oh my goodness. Maybe we should get rid of the "dirt section" too. Whizzing through the woods at 50mph on a dirtbike or quad is way more dangerous than driving your steel box down the road at 100mph.

All of you sound like a bunch of panzies even debating the subject. Like Clark said, why do we even own the cars we do. Just go buy a 97hp Honda and be done with it.

I'm going to E-Trade and pick up some Kimberly-Clark stocks right now. (Kimberly-Clark owns most of the tissue companies in America).
