I think it said that the road was closed off by police and they were allowed to race.

wasn't that still the oil crisis back then? Gear heads will be gear heads... :)

It would be great to see more race tracks spring up like there were back then, would help stop street racing significantly. Am I right in saying that there used to be more tracks back then?

The cars of the sixties were the badass! In the early 70's they were slowing down. The oil problem and the insur. companies were out to kill the horsepower. There were a ton of racetracks back then, people moved next to them and complained about the noise and that was it. Check out this web site, water-winterwonderland.com. It is from my home state, and scroll down to race tracks on the left to see some old track!!!!! Man I miss that shit:o

There used to be alot more tracks just in this area as well...Obviously PID, Eldora-Fairmont, and Peterson-Altoona along with some others. I wasn't around then, but I am an old school gearhead and love racing history. With that being said... if anyone has any old racing memoriable from any of the area tracks, please let me know. I would love to make copies of old pics/videos. I'd also be interested in any old trophies, banners, etc... My main interest is drag racing, but I also collect some cirlce stuff as well.

cool... i love old pics. where is your stuff from, PID/Keystone? i would love to have an old race car on display. about 2 years ago, my dad and i passed on an old circle track coupe for a good price, we both regret that one!

Bob- I think my dad has only been to the track once this year so far and Ive only been twice. Between the rain and everything else goin on, just havent had time. How is your car running this year??? You still running the same set-up?
