the one rebuilds the carrier and the one is just the basic install kit for the ring and pinion and such.

is it worth rebuilding the carrier? I'm clueless when it comes to rear ends

I just used the first kit you show there to rebuild my traction-loc due to the dreaded one wheel drive. If you're looking to correct that problem that kit will do it, and it's not overly difficult to do.

If you're installing new rear gears you want the second kit, but I wouldn't recommend doing that yourself unless you have some experience at it.

All I'm looking for is to change the stock gears to 4 10's and just need the correct install kit

if you just want to install gears just get the ring and pinion install kit. i would get axle seals also while your doing it...
