    Trick Flow kit Problems HELP

I'll start by saying I have a 1987 mustang gt. It is a 5.0 and it was an auto. I converted it to a 5 speed.

Ok Im going to try to list everything that is done! THis is what I have

trick flow street heat kit from summit!
I have converted it to maf by changning computer and wiring harness.
    I bought a 255lph fuel pump
    24 lb injectors
    msd replacement coil
    msd cap and rotor
    new plugs and wires

I got my maf sensor from the guy with the computer and wiring harness. It was suppose to be recalb. for 24 lb injectors.

The car idles ok and sometimes stalls. (think that has to do with speed sensor that isnt hooked into the computer yet) It reves fine and sounds strong.

Here is the problem.... When I take it down the road it runs good inside 2 grand but after that it cuts out bad!

I unplugged the maf and it straighten it up a decent amount. So tomorrow Im going to test the meter or sensor with my friends one that is for sure for a 24lb injector.

I was told that maybe a map sensor could make a difference from 87 to a maf yr. any comments on what is happening or any common problems or answers! Thanks for your help

Well I ran my test... maf is not the problem or the computer.. The fuel filter was plugged we changed it but still not the problem!! soooo here is a possible problem! in the wiring harness. I am using the 87 (non mass air) engine harness. Could that be my problem? I notice that my oil pressure wire is now my temp and my temp wire is unplugged because it doesnt power the temp gauge or oil pressure gauge! Let me know what you think

The EEC-IV uses the coolant temperature sensor located in the coolant rail. This is used to add fuel or trim timing. Are you speaking about the sensor on the right located on the coolant rail to the heater or the one on the drivers side in the front of the intake manifold? The one in the intake is only used for the factory gauge, not the FI.

The line does NOT get plugged. It should be open to the atmosphere.

If your filter was clogged its possible the feed line from the pump to the top of the fuel hat is ripped spraying fuel inside the fuel tank instead of the fuel lines>>>enough volume at idle, not enough to get the car really rollin.

To be crystal clear, plug the vacuum line & let the sensor open to the atmosphere.

The 87 Harness is fine, depends on how the mass air conversion was done. As long as you installed the mass air wires in the proper positions of the 60 pin connector and moved the ones that need to be moved then the harness should be fine.

here's a link to a good tech article on how to do the conversion and what pins to switch and where to place the mass air wires.
