You might be able to get away with a 50 shot with stock timing and 93 octane but i wouldn't try anything more without some kind of tuning.

I have a bunch of customers that run a 100 shot on pretty stock v8s... It is super safe if you go with a wet system.. i have the NX mainline universal wet kits on sale right now.. I have put 150 on a stock motor and went through 20+ bottles with no problems, just keep it off the rev limiter..

As safe as these wet systems claim to me, I'd never let one touch my car without a proper tune. There's a few places within 3-4 hours driving that will tune it for 3-500 depending on how long it takes. Which is cheaper $500 for a tune or a couple grand for a new shortblock?

Even if you dont wanna get it tuned, atleast invest in a good wideband so you can watch what A/F is.

I thought a dry kit was the safer than a wet kit.

There is danger either way. I had a zex wet kit on my GT when I had it. You can lean out easier on a dry kit and you run the chance of fuel puddling with a wet kit.

Dry kits are better with a return style fuel system. With a returnless style fuel system like that on a newer modular motor, I would run a wet kit with a good tune and a better pump.

I ran a 125 shot (similar to a 100 shot of nx or nos) and had it tuned. Even on a smaller shot they had to tune in more fuel otherwise I would have been very lean. I even had a SVT focus pump. Once the tuning was done, I was pulling good numbers at a good A/F with more fuel left.

If you do it right, N20 can be a pretty good source of power. I could answer any questions on my setup if you would like. Just ask.

If you have a good tune and supporting mods, nitrous can be pretty safe. I had fpss, window switch, fuel pump, colder plugs, and a good tune on a SCT flip chip from Dave Guy from what is now SGS.

Put down good numbers. A/F at tip in I believe was around 13-14:1 and went right down to 11.5ish.

Too many idiots out there slapping kits on their car out of the box and running into problems.

It was pretty fun though: http://media.putfile.com/Dyno-pull---8

Did you get this figured out yet? The easiest thing to do is buy a Predator for like 450 bucks and change the timing and fuel at WOT put it on the Dyno see where your at and if its still not safe enough get a custom email tune sent to you. PM me if you have any questions.

From what I've seen, and like KBcobra said. Too much money invested in these cars to half ass it at any point. I've been down the road, its not cheap to get it fixed. For what tuning costs, why not?

I ran a 100 shot of zex tons and I mean tons. I had a predator tuner added a lil timing and fuel and ran the hell out of it. Ask anyone who seen it. I would go threw a bottle every couple days lol. It was an 04

If you do end up doing a hand held, make sure you pull timing, not bump it.
