The FLD's were intended for street cars, and everyone has there own idea what this is. But when people go to a street car race and some of the cars are RACE cars that you see trailored to the track and realistically not drivin it no comparison. The tubbed race cars wouldn't want to compete against nitro funny cars just like street cars don't want to compete against trailored race cars. My opinion if I had a race car i wouldn't take it to the FLDS.
in my truthful opinion the lower hp cars have a super advantage because they dont spin as bad, i got beat by an 11sec car because i blew the tires off the entire 8th.., and turbo cars are at a super duper advantage because they dont spool off the line.. it is 6 in one hand and half a dozen in the other, if i didnt bring my tubbed car someone else would have there tubbed car.. what does it matter, its just for fun, if it is that much of a problem then build a faster car!!!! I could see the big problem if it were for money..

I think its total bullshit that guys trailer their cars to the FLD's as that goes against what I interpret the FLD's to be about. I don't care how fast your car is, if you trailer it to a FLD I wouldn't give it two looks and you shouldn't be there IMO. Drive it there or stay at home is the way I feel about it.

It's pretty black and white in my mind:
Inspected (this covers registration and insurance pre-requisites)
DOT Tires
Pump Gas
I don't need to get into details like working lights, good brakes, seatbelts...etc. as these are required for inspection. When I say inspection, I don't mean lickem and stickem places.

I'd agree with this. In any competition there are rules, and everywhere there are rules there will be some looking to see how far those rules can be bent before they are considered broken.
Some would think that's poor sportsmanship, while others say it's just taking advantage of all the rules will allow. If there's no money riding on the outcome, why get upset about it?
No set of rules can cover every possible scenario. If everyone is required to drive to the event maybe that's an advantage to those who live close by as opposed to those who live far away.
By the way I've never been to the fld, so my opinion is based on what I've seen in other areas of competition.
I do run my 12 second car against some 9 and 10 second cars in the street class at BSD, but that's bracket racing and I take it the fld's are all heads up. As long as the rules are the same for everybody and enforced fairly, I see no problem.
OFR - old fart racing
We aren't the fastest car at the track, but we might be having the most fun!

I think if the car passes legal inspection per the car's requirments and it can be driven more then lets say 25 miles one way and back without needing a 1 hour stop to cool off then its a street car with a race car attitude. Isn't that what we all really want anyhow?
As, for FLD's although I havent been to one but, went to prp when I had my 04 for a "Street Car Shoot Out" one of their first I will add. I went there and we ended up racing full out race car's that only see the street being loaded up at their house. Complete vbullshit and I heard they changed that. So, I think it pertains to FLD's. If you have to trailer it to race it's not really a Street car. There are some variables with that as well. No I dont see a modified car such as Timmy's driving to cali. (No reason to go to that shithole anyhow). I would not drive my car that far either. Gas would make ya take out 3 loans plus. IT should be able to handle a lil traffic. Just my 2 cents.

Alot of those guys with inspection stickers the guy with the yellow camaro have there own inspection station or just buy them. In my opinion if you can take your car to a legitment inspection station ford garage , chevy garage, meike, pep boys, ntb and pass mins tires then its a street car. also to me a tubbed out car is not a street car in my opinion went to the lsx shoot out in atco nj a couple months ago and for the street class we had to go on a 30 mile trip no tubbed cars and could not open our hoods or put air in the tires only let out and then make 3 back to back passes when we got back the car that won average time was 8.76

Yes, they did a 30 mile cruise andthe Hemi Dart had to leave his car run all through eliminations because it wouldn't restart. This is the stuff I was referring to above. 5 gallon fuel cells, race cars with plates, ETC.

I have no objection to people trailering cars long distance, driving on ET streets can be deadly in the rain. It seems there is always a threat of rain in the Pittsburgh area,LOL.

LOL, that's why I just ordered a set of Hoosier QTP's :) I can laugh now, It didnt seem so funny Sunday, puckered up the whole drive home. My wife was following me and said SHE was scared and she was driving the truck ;)
The whole debate about race car versus street car is tough to nail down for sure. We all draw different lines to what is tolerable as "streetable". A better question is when do you really consider that a street car has become a race car? Does going to the track and competing make it a race car? Need race gas? Slicks? on and on, no clear answers for sure.
Bob Myers
its so hard to say....arent they one in the same? I could go get a true racecar like a Nascar racecar and take it for a spin on the street...whats that make it?
IMO a car is a car....we all take our "street cars" to the track, doesnt that make them race cars?
LOL im as confused as u.
