I have BBK longtubes and a Dr.gas x pipe. This is my favorite sounding exhaust, but it is not the easiest. Any longtube headers are a pain in the ass to install. The dr. gas xpipe is a pain because it comes in pieces and you weld it yourself. They make all the xpipes for nascar though so their crossover is the best IMO.

the only downfall to the BBK headers is that you have to loosen the passenger side header to get the transmission out.

if i were going to do it again I would probably do hooker or kooks headers. Be prepared to pay money for really good headers.

also stay away from MAC crap

its 500 for hooker longtubes and another 160 for the xpipe. thats pretty tough to beat

i got hooker lts, o.r x, an slp 1 catback an its LOUD. maybe too loud for some but i love it, hooker headers are the best imo, i got a steal off them cuz my buddy was hurtin for money an he never even put them on his car an i got them for 200 bux lol. they are 900 something at summit, jegs. the headers go to a 3 inch collector an hooker, flowtech, an dr. gas are the only companies i believe that make the x pipe to fit the headers. the midpipe goes from 3in to 2.5in so you can hook up any gt catback. the only downfall is they only make x pipes, which give you a few more ponies an def make it louder. some people like the h pipe an i believe they dont make the h pipe that goes 3in into 2.5in.

some other brands like mentioned are kooks, american headers, bbk(prolly the cheapest/good header), MAC=trouble, rust, an a whole bunch of headaches, bassani midlengths but they are just as expensive as lts an you do not see the gains as lts, slp. mostly every brand i mentioned is 600-up, except for bbk, an crap mac. so if you want loud an are on a budget, go with bbk, an then an o/r xpipe if you like raspyness as well.

hope this helps you a little bit

yea, i believe that if you want cats for the headers that go 3in to 2.5in you have to have them welded in because i believe no company makes them with cats,, but the dr gas needs all welded as stated by jcelli anyways so if you wanted cats just pick up some highflow cats an have them welded in when you get it welded.

personally i think that unless your ultimate goal is over 600-700 rwhp a stroker is not needed. if you plan on keeping the 2.1 def do not get a stroker.

the stroker will make your engine's displacement to big to see the full potential of the blower.

to get the most out of your 2.1 keep stock displacement and compression ratio. you can do a light port on your heads but dont go crazy. get some stage 2 or equivilent blower cams and rev your 2.1 as far as she will go. i've seen a couple guys make over 500 with a 2.1 on a 2v but the inlet is such a restriction after that you wont see much rise except your inlet air temps. i saw a guy who fabbed up his own new inlet and made like 560 or something on a 2v but i doubt he will be producing them for sale.

i will shortly be ordering my forged shortblock, probably from MMR. the MMR 900 is all most people will ever need. it is rated to 900 rwhp with all forged internals. when i do mine i will probably do an aluminum block to try to make up for the weight of the KB.

finally, you should really think twice about going with the 2.1. i have the 1.7 (the old 2.1) and i really really wish i would have waited and got a bigger blower (2.2 or bigger). your pretty much limited to 500rwhpish with these blowers because they wanted them to fit under the stock hood. the inlet is the problem. if you get a bigger blower you will need a new hood but i've seen the 2.2 make mid-high 6xx and the 2.6 into the 700s. if you really wanna go nuts get the 2.8 from MPH and they made 919rwhp on a 2v with it.

    i'll give you 2 options

the simple way: 42lb injectors, focus fuel pump, 8rib setup, 90mm or bigger maf, maybe a couple other things im forgetting

right way: 60lb injectors, cobra tank with dual GT pumps, 8rib, Cobra TB, big tube intake (or other one that will fit), all new rear suspension, new clutch, forged internals, D/Rs, and im sure i'm forgetting some stuff offhand but someone else will chime in.

i would hold off on buying your TB til you decide which blower. the 2.6 is an oval (im pretty sure) and the 2.1 is circular.
