    5.4 5.4l Triton Motor 60k Miles F-150 F-250 F-350 E-150 E-250

I bought this 5.4 to put into a project fox body car of mine and have found out that im limited on what i can do as its a custom project, and I dont have much more time to play around with it. With this being the case I decided to try and sell it to recoupe some of my money out of it and go with a 5.0 tt setup instead. Its 5.4L modular motor out of a 1997 e-150 van with 60 thousand miles on it. Its complete from throttle body to oil pan, but no accessories or coils. But these will swap over from your current engine without a problem. These motors will run strong for years with good maintence. Im asking $650. for the motor. For a mustang swap all you would need is a mustang 4.6 oil pan/pickup and you'd be good to go.

btw: I have already purchased all new acessories such as alternator, starter, etc. and if anyone is interested in those i will make ya a good deal on them as well. I even have new solid motor mounts for mustang already bolted on and much much more. I will sell it complete with new spark plugs, wires, mounts, alternator, starter, egr blockoff plate, new iac, p/s pump, a/c eliminator and everything else on it except the clutch for 900. Keep in mind this is all brand new not cheapies either. I have it setup for a 8 ribbed belt truck system which should work very well.

onenasty84z28@yahoo.com is quikest way durin the day to get ahold of me.

Also have many other items for sale such as a hydroboost setup with some of the lines I would like to get $125. out of it. Have brand new starter, alternator, p/s pump probably much more sitting around.

So this would fit easily into my 2001 GT? and make up for some cubic inches, but is there any aftermarket parts out there for this motor ?

I was putting this into a fox body which isnt to easy of a swap but from what i've read the 4.6 to 5.4 swap is a fairly easy swap and you can use stock computer etc with it.....like i said this is from what i've read so do some searchin on here and some of the mod motor sites and see what ya find but I dont think its to difficult.

depending on what mods your looking to do most can be performed on this motor that can be done on the 4.6 or buy a lightning s/c and bolt it on ;)

you just have to look around man, i was thinking of doing a 5.4 swap into my 01 gt, they make adapter plates for almost everything lol.

the only thing you'll need to make the swap work is adapter plates for the intake. the heads and everything else will bolt right up as long as the motor is complete. you will need to run stock headers because from what i hear longtube headers just dont fit.

just for the record i dont think swapping in q 5.4 2v is all that great of an idea. the heads on our cars are the biggest problem and making power, well that and the small bore, and making the motor bigger and the leaving the heads the same is only going to make the heads seem worse. yea itll make more power stock vs. stock but it would be beneficial ( notice i didnt mention cheap ) to go 4v

oh and the 5.4 wont fit under the stock hood so you will need a cowl hood

Well directly swapped its more power right off the bat but if you want to get into it you could swap your PI heads onto this 5.4 and get even more of a screamer out of it then add a supercharger and good to go. Just ideas I've thought alot about doing.

Your gonna have to do some searchin online or maybe someone here has done this swap before?.... but local yards books only go by what is a direct swap with original equipment, like i know for fact you'll need your old oil pan and may need other swap over items but I imagine its not much harder then any other modular swap.

Thanks punisher I hope it sells quikly too as I need to get my new motor in and get the car out of the garage quikly which is why i priced it where i did for quik sell ;) I want the car at bodyshop over winter instead of in the garage.

Boy I dont know that theres an exact science to it but I know the blocks are supposedly common for the most part and most everything will interchange between the 2 that i have read......if u have a particular question on something swapping i can try and look it up at work so just let me know and i'll help out however I can.

If anybody has info on swappin a 97 5.4 into a 99+ car plz post anything you can about this swap as I have had lots of interest in the motor but most want it for in their 99+ stangs and I am limited on info. It looks to be a failry straight forward swap but would like to get more info to pass along.

I also wanted to mention I have the motor setup for the 8 ribbed truck pulley setup as of right now.....Since I wont have much use for the new parts I have for it such as the new alternator etc. I'll let the motor go with new Ford belt, starter, alternator, a/c eliminator, solid mounts, p/s pump, etc for $850.

I have a buddy interested as well, but he currently has a blown up 1996/97? 4.6l triton/ auto F150. I don't know if the computers are compatible, exhaust etc.

  18. #18
everything on that would be a direct swapover computer and all...i was gonna use the 98 mustang computer I have for sale for mine and switch to wires instead of coil on plug design which is a easy thing to do since the motor itself is basically the same thing just the wiring etc is different in the vehicle.

I was told the 97 5.4 has flat pistons. the 99+ mustangs 4.6 has a dome. so when you trade the heads of the mustang 4.6 to the 5.4 the compression goes up but will work in a 99+ mustang.
