    Exclamation Leaking rear??

Last night i noticed that i had a leak coming from my diff cover. I cleaned it off last night so i could see where the leak was coming from. This morning i came out and its def leaking from the bottom of the cover. Its a drip drip leak so what parts or route should i take to have this fixed. Anyone ever have a similar problem? Thanks for any input.

rear main usually describes the rear engine seal
Rob--think of this as a reason to get gears/diff cover :) otherwise its a boring replacement of the stock gear diff cover gasket

I had this problem w my rear an its the gasket...they tried to seal it 3 times then i got a heavy duty rubber gasket an it has never leaked again.

Make sure you get both surfaces clean and then make sure you have a gasket.... I've heard people say "never use a paper gasket, they're junk"... but i had mine on and off multiple times and the only way it would seal was using a paper gasket along with perma-tex ...

    good luck

    f u guys i got confused.

When i was going to buy what would have been my first mustang (94 GT) the guy at goodyear who was checking it before i bought it proceeded to the rear of the car while it was on the lift, pointed DIRECTLY to the diff. cover and said, it has a rear main seal leak.

Shame on me for not doing my homework.

That one ranks up there as a close second to Import Killer actually thinking that there were muffler bearings on his car for the longest time!

Its actually not the pinion seal either.

But when I had my gears done I bought a rubber diff cover seal from LMM and I never had a problem with it leaking.
