    Steelers new backup QB

Byron Leftwich was signed as back up over Daunte Culpepper today. I see that when Batch returns they plan to keep Leftwich.

Ugg hurry up and heal Charlie I like you better as QB if Ben goes down.

I think Leftwich is about as good as we could hope for ( without spending a LOT of $$$ ) this close to the regular season. I agree that we want Charlie to heal quickly, but his injury could take a while to heal - collarbones can be tricky. And I'm sure Tomlin will be picking Byron's brain regarding the Jacksonville playbook...

Let's hope that neither Byron nor Charlie need to see the field this year...unless they're taking a knee to ice games in the 4th quarter.

I was impressed by Mendenhall (sp?) in the preseason opener. That kid is a load to bring down! And he is sneaky fast. I see him breaking tackles that Willie cannot. Should make for a nice combo out of the backfield!

Now - if we can just make it to September without any more injuries...

I like the idea of picking Leftwhichs' brain on the Jags playbook, but I'm not sure why they picked him. He's been injury plagued the last couple seasons. I guess there aren't a lot of guys available.
The guy is a horse though. 6' 5" 250. Culpepper is even bigger. Ben is also a big guy. Quarterbacks the size of 1970's - 80's defensive linemen.
I'm trying to think back to the 70' and 80's and find a quarterback that size. I'm stumped.
