Question Looking to dyno in North Hills

Hello I'm new to the forum and looking for some help.

I'm doing a series of bolt on modifications to my GT500 and I would like to chart my incremental gains. I'm hoping there's a good dyno shop in the North Hills Area of the burgh or near by. I have been told to stay away from the performance shop in Allison Park?

    I appreciate your feedback!

dont go to asap in allison park. ive never been there but have heard some pretty rough stories. closest/best your gunna get to the burgh would be to go to sgs in ohio.

If your just dynoing after mods and doing no tuning, shouldnt matter where you go, your just watching your gains in between mods.

I know nothing about dyno's but I have been told that if the dyno operator doesn't preload the dyno correctly it could over rev the engine???

x2 i agree....i say dont go get a dyno tune unless you get your motor rebuilt, a new blower, pulley etc. but with regular bolt on mods like cai an exhaust i would just go anywhere to see the gains.

I want to compare stock to FRPP CIA/Pro-cal and then to 2.65 pulley, offroad x-pipe & Evolution tune.

Is there anyone trustworthy around the burgh? I really don't have time to run to Ohio 3 times.

    Thanks guys!

Only Dyno I ever used was ASAP in Hampton. Probably are some stories, hard to say what others have run into, but when Ed personally works on the car, I have had good results. You have to be careful on any dyno, with any tuner. A dyno is used to tune a car, pushing it for the most horsepower. If you don't have your car tight, good belts, fresh hoses, good plugs, etc...during a heavy hard pull in 2nd or 3rd gear can cause any engine to blow. Just make sure you have the right components on the car that are quality before you try and push the most HP you can get out of your car.

I haven't been to see Ed for about 2 years now since I have been running imports....

Found another one... I haven't been there, so I can't vouch for anything.

Looks like they have a Dynojet chassis dyno.

Sarver is up Route 28, exit 17, to Route 356 W/N (towards Lernerville Speedway)

Thanks for all the input guys but I think I'm going to scratch the idea .... it sounded like a cool idea in my head but just to much running around.

    Thanks again!

no sir... especially for what this guy is looking to use it for... he wants to see what kinda power changes he's getting.... as long as they dyno is consistent, which you have to expect it will be, then he's achieving his objective....

OP, i've never heard of someone overspinning a motor because the dyno was not loaded properly... that sounds rediculous to me... overspin a motor b/c the operator is an idiot and revved it too high - sure... my car actually runs too rich in the middle on the street b/c it spooled quicker on the dyno than it does on the road... b/c the dyno loaded it more

What kind do you have Tim?

For the record a Superflow dyno is the best that money can buy. Sadly though nobody close uses one.

Probably not a good idea to put down ANY dyno since you don't even have one.
