I thought this. I looked at the routing and its only about an inch at the closest contact point. There are no marks at all anywhere along the cable that show signs of heat or rubbing. I have some liquid graphite that I used to use on my quad clutch cable. I will put some of that in the cable and wrap it with some header wrap along with the header where the cable is close to it. Hopefully this will work.
