    Naturally Aspirated

    1) What would it take to get say 350HP on top of my current list of mods. I was thinking Full lenght headers and Catted X-pipe. Cams ( not sure which ones ) and heads.....and 2) what kinda times would that get me. I like the 3.27 gears because I drive highway alot and currently get 28.5 mpg when driving all highway.

    Any input helps.

gears wouldn't do anything for hp. do you want 350 to the wheels? if so id think you would have to do bottom end work on top of the heads and cams.

I realize gears do nothing for HP. But when I asked what times to expect I figured someone would tell me add more gear. I was interested in what 350 flywheel HP would run about with the current gearing and what was needed to make it.

I think even with 3.27 and 350 hp ull get some awsome times. Expecially with some sticky tires!

Wont be VERY hard but it will take some money. You need a intake,,bullet, trick flow..something of that nature..there seeral 2v intakes out now. VERY GOOD ported and polished heads...look into Fox Lake or TEA's. IM not a fan of patriot, for my own reasons. A set of healthy cams something like Hitech stage 2's,long tubes a nice free flowing exhaust AND some much needed dyno time/tuning.Now as for what times it would get you...who knows every car is different..gears..trans..clutch set-up and suspension all play a important part...as does the capabilities of said driver.

im n/a with fully built bottom end...ported pi heads w/all new valves, crower stg 2 cams, valve springs...full bolt ons, lts o/r x, slp cb(def free flowing exhaust), an 4.10s, etc etc.
i have asked on many forums what i would make on the dyno an people say around 320-340 n/a........i still am waiting for a few things then im going to get a dyno tune, etc. im going to be running spray with my compression so you have to figure out what you wanna do with your car down the road...if your gunna add boost get low comp, if you want spray get high comp.
as for gears go....if your getting your motor built, your gunna loose some of that mpg your making anyways, so you might as well change the gears bc once you get your motor built your def gunna jump on it more than you did with just bolt ons. an with 3.27s your not gunna feel the fun factor or power your making with the new motor so get 4.10s bc your mpg will be going down anyways lol hope this info helps man

oh an p.s...............if your worried about getting good times, worry about getting rid of those 3.27s because you wont get as efficient times with your built motor an 3.27s as you would with 3.73s, 4.10s, etc

    I got an '01 with:
    stock bottom end
    stock heads
    stock lower intake
    bbk cai
    bbk 75mm tb
    bbk upper plenum
comp cams xe262ah (kinda like their stage 1)
    steeda underdrives
    bbk long tubes
    bbk off-road x
    magnapack cat back
    3.73

... SGS custom dyno-tune and it put down 294HP / 314TQ to the wheels.

that's a STD number and if you use the generic .85 loss through the drivetrain, I should be about 345hp and 369TQ at the flywheel.

If you put any aftermarket cams in there, you will not like those 3.27s at all. Even with these so-called Stage 1s, the 3.73 is not real easy to take off or drive at low-rpms.

    Good Luck

The S197 platform itself would be reason enough. I enjoy driving my 06 GT 1,000X more than my old 03 Cobra and it's 200 plus RWHP less.

I would think that car should run high 13's as it is now.

For one imo they seem to ride smoother, better interior, tranny shifts smoother, etc. Those are a couple of things that i've noticed from the ones i've driven. I wish i could take some things from the 05 and convert it into mine but as far as the exterior i def like the 99-04 the best

I dont think those things really make it a better car but they do make the driving experience more pleasant.

It's actually enjoyable to drive. There's not squeeks, creeks, etc that every other stang to date has had, and the almost 50/50 weight balance of the car make it alot of fun to just drive. It handles so much better than the 03 Cobra did even with having a solid axle vs. the IRS.
