    Keep them comming man.

    You need some HIDs and itll really be sick.
    Thanks, and believe me I know I need some HIDs!! I want to see the different temperatures in person before I buy though, so thats all I'm waiting on... hint hint! Till then I can photoshop them to be HID if I want.. I used to do it for a friend's audi all the time lol.

    I'm torn between 4300k and 6k. Would prefer something with just a faint hint of blue like 5k for hi/low and 5k for fogs, but I can't find any... HID gurus please link me!! :)

    Nice pics!
    Yeah, its all about the lighting no matter how you try to photograph something. I've found that if I'm going out in the middle of the day I might as well leave the memory card at home... HDR just reinforces that with 3 pictures lol

    Hell yeah, I'd love to do that. I'm just a noob when it comes to this stuff though. Everything I've learned has been by trying to emulate what my friend does, although I don't think he's done HDR on cars yet

    No camera short of $10,000 will shoot in HDR, you have to merge them in post processing. Lots of cameras do have AEB (auto exposure bracketing), which will allow you to take 3 or more (mine takes 3) different exposures back to back to back. Its a pretty slick feature, even if you're not shooting for HDR, you can save some pictures that would otherwise be under/over exposed. I have about 10 shots like that that one pic came out good, but it was metered wrong, so I couldn't merge them to HDR

    Holy cow those are nice. This makes me want to go out and do a nice photoshoot with my car again.

    I have just started to play with HDR with scenic shots and am using Photoshop CS3 only, not Photomatix. Does photomatix help out that much more?

    From my experience with it, yes. the CS3 HDR feature left the photos very very bland, where as the photomatix brought out some nice pop to the colors

    ^couldn't get it to come out in HDR, so I tried some other tonal stuff. Dramatic lighting FTW.

    like I have said before, the camera isn't an HDR camera. Any camera can take HDR shots, some have features that let them come out better than others, such as auto exposure bracketing. All you need are 3+ pictures that are identical aside from the different exposures and you can make one, meaning you're going to need a tripod, a camera that can shoot in either .RAW format and turn it into different exposures in photoshop (if you don't know, google it) or use auto exposure bracketing like I did (camera takes those 3 shots automatically, back to back to back off of a timed delay).

    example:
    I took these 3 and made this one.

    1st = metered shot (ev)
    2nd = underexposed (-2 ev)
    3rd = over exposed (+2 ev)
    4th = merged to HDR in photomatix (software) which will blend the 3 together - taking the dark areas and filling them with the bright picture, and the light areas and filling them with the dark picture in order to pick up details that our eyes can see, but the camera can't from a single exposure. our eyes can see 12 exposures at a time, which is why camera pictures often look much different than what we see

    Are you using just HDR or tonal mapping too? If it isn't too much trouble, can you post the three befores and with the one after as a sample? I like the technical "behind the scenes" part too.

    Punisher:

    There are no HDR cameras. Any camera that can take and overexposed, underexposed and normal exposed shot can do this. It is the software program that merges the three (or more) shots together that makes them look all the better.

    Edit - looks like we wee typing at the smae time

    Just going to say the same thing lol

    I'm having photomatix merge them to HDR, and when you do that it makes you use the tone mapping. For the picture of the white GT I just posted I used photomatix's tonal compression feature. I can't get those shots to work with me to save my life though, which is driving me nuts. I've never shot a white car before :(

    Ah, plus a little photoshop background adjustment. That is what got me at first was how dark the background was. For some reasons I thought that was all that was done. Damn my real job for interferring with my thinking.

    Great Pics. I am going to try the AEB function tonight.

    Just bought a Canon Rebel XSi. It is a great camera for the $

    I just need to learn how to use it correctly.

    Here is a quick picture from a show this weekend.
