Yep, exploded third gear today. Let out the clutch after the 2-3 shift and boom. All kinds of noises in the car, none of them good. This probably screwed my racing at Columbus next weekend.

Well Bob, you may be in luck my friend. I have a brand new ford 3rd gear that is still in the box and I can probably come up with a cluster gear for ya too. I can even assemble all this for ya.

Thanks everyone, T5's are pretty much on borrowed time when they go in my junk, so it's no shame when they die. Just bad timing with Columbus next weekend, and my work load this week will likely keep me from working on it much.

I suspect the parts you have are for a V8 T5?? I run the 4 cylinder T5's and as far as I know most of the parts are different.

I do have a V8 T5 (3.35 1st) here that needs gone through, and the input shaft cut down to the 2.3 pilot size. That will likely be the next victim to go in the car. I've want to try the 3.35 1st over my 4 cylinder 3.97 1st. The splits are better too.

How far does it need cut down? Is it just a matter of trimming the end and machining it to fit the pilot, or just machining the end down to fit the pilot? If you wanna bring it over, we can tear it apart and check it out real quick.

LOL yeah you beat me to the end. Honestly it's the first tranny i've ever broke.. i was thinking oh shit... i know i just destroyed it, but did i destroy just 3rd or am i leaking shit all over the track... So i was on the brakes looking behind me trying to decide if i should stop or keep going or what lol. and yeah granny in the neon toasted me LOL.
