do you think I have the longest running ad on SCS? 10 months and 5 days?

let's not make it a year-long ad. I got my eye on a 2009 Chevy Silverado. with the current incentives, GM is willing to give me the truck AND pay my mortgage.

So I'm trying to get home for Christmas and I'm currently stuck for a day in Qatar. This place seems pretty nice. The taxi's at the airport are all 7-series BMW's (gotta be 100 of them) and I saw a brand new lambo something being unloaded at the airport....it was completely covered in a wrapper except for the headlights and wheels.....wish I had my camera ready to snap a pic.

Tomorrow I have a 16.5 hr flight to Houston, and then to pgh.....yay!

Thanks Bob.......it doesn't help that Qatar flies to Dulles, JFK, and Houston only....I knew about the snow but it's WAY out of the way to go to Houston.........but I don't have a choice at this point.

Gonna be a long one this time since I started my trip about 14 hrs ago in Mumbai. (which really really really really really really sux BTW)

I wouldnt mind travel so much if the airlines didnt absolutely suck any more.

You are way better coming through the south right now even if the connecting sucks, NY and other northern airports are still way behind, still catching up on cancellations ... I got a buddy on his way back that had to go China to Japan to Korea to get in. Now he stuck in NY.

It could be worse. You could be on half-worn all season tires driving through the canadian rockies on the Alaska highway heading to Alaska in mid March.

Am I the only person who finds it amusing when someone hates you but they have to suck off your ideas and find ways to leach off of you? If I don't agree with someones beliefs or actions, I just separate myself from them and act like they don't exist. I guess some people have no pride in hard work and earning things on their own? Kinda like this site, it started with an idea and I ran with it. Told people I knew and word spread and it evolved into a pretty active local hang out. Never had to find creative ways to lure people here.

You are not alone brother! Ever since I opened my shop I have had more then one "competitor" become a thorn in my side, all for no good reason. One of them in particular lives for copying and mimicking my every move like a little kid, he just doesn't grasp the concept of worrying about him self. Numerous customers, friends and fellow enthiusiest have brought many things to my attention over the last couple years. Some of them were even his friends and customers I have always tried to ignore the he said she said crap as we all now how that stuff gets twisted up from one person to another. Growing tired of just that though, I began paying close attention to his forum posts and shop website, sometimes on a daily basis With my own eyes, he has used the internet to do everything from personally attack me, to copy and mimmick my business practices. One day I noticed that from just a few days earlier, his website visitor counter went from approximately 1700 to just over 6,000! This is just 1 silly example of many more serious things, but coincidentally that worked out to be approximately 100 or so more visitors then what my counter read at the time By this time I had at least 3 lengthy phone conversations and numerous emails and pm's with him, in effort to keep the peace and get to know him, hoping all the bullshit would stop. Out of patients and to put my self in check, just incase paranoia has set in, I decided to stoop to his level and play a little game I added another digit to my website visitor counter, the number 3. Instantly my counter read 30,000 more visitors, the bait was out their, time to play the waiting game! It took a little while for him to catch it but I was just on his website last week, after seeing this post from Lou I decided to look again today What do you know, in less then a week he has had 30,000 more visitors Now he has that same extra digit, the number 3, and has approximately 100 more visitors then what my counter currently reads

Tomorrow brings a new day and more importantly a new year! Hopefully my little thorn in the side learns to quit trying to "Keep Ahead Of The Pack" and learn how to at least "Keep Up With The Pack"

Rant over, thanks a lot Lou

    Happy New Year

Quoting myself ;) So I have been flying through Schiphol (Amsterdam) when I have to go into Europe. It's a little easier to get in and out of there and they seem to know how to deal with weather .... Apparently, too easy to get in anyway ...

The flight I usually take home is the same one that the a$$hat tried to blow up with his underwear bomb. Kind of scarry as I've taken that flight 3 times this year, and likely would have used it again in February.

It's "funny" that they keep calling that a Northwest flight in the news. They have been forcing us to call it "Delta" lately (removed almost all NW signs), and it's actually a KLM flight from there to Detroit. I geuss they can make people forget when the make the Northwest totally disappear.

I wish northwest would disappear. I was a loyal flyer with them for 10 years and used them to fly anywhere I had to go even though Philly was a US Air hub (read: fewer connecting flights) and racked up enough miles on personal travel (much less business) to go to europe twice 1st class.

I won't go into details on what happened but it pissed me off enough to donate the remaining 80,000 miles I had to charity, cancel my frequent flier number, and never fly with them again.

But could they get out of my life? NOOOooooo... for another 2 years after that some chick's frequent flier info got associated with my address. And I called them THREE TIMES in the first 3 months I got her frequent flier mail to no avail.

    F*** NWA.

PS - We should share Schiphol stories as AMS was a hub for me too in the mid 90's

Grocery stores need to sh*t or get off the pot with the metric system.

Don't get me wrong I have no problem with the metric system since I used it all the time for the past 7 years, but its annoying as hell when the sales flyers come out and they advertise lean ground beef only $1.99/lb but then you pick up a package and it says $4.39/kg on it.

Distance, temperature, and volume are "firm metric" up here, what's making mass so hard on the yentas?

LOL! Indeed. "Back in the day" a bunch of us who enjoyeed geeking out on computers decided to have an IRL GTG and AMS was the voted meet up spot. I think we had 4 or 5 countries represented and was a ton of fun.
