The actual rousch side exhaust caused a buddy's car to loose power. He had a built engine with a pro charger and put down 360 @12#'s of boost. Switch to a normal exhaust which was the only change and went close to 500.

The side exhaust mufflers actually go in and out on the same side of the muffler which is a good restriction.

He went from 360 to 500 just by changing the exhaust? That's unbelievable.

I find all of this to be realllly hard to believe. Lose power because of less back pressure? Maybe a slight amount of torque... But less back pressure is never bad when trying to make power. And I'm not saying anyone is a liar here, but changin a set of mufflers, and changing nothing else on a car is really pushin it saying you gained 140 horsepower.

Spintech makes an extremely nice side-exit exhaust which my cousin had on his 01 KBGT. He put down 386/419 on the MustangDyno.

Were you at Tim's Dyno Day last year when KBGT had his car there? He put down some pretty good power with that Kenne Bell

It was basically a white out, roads covered. Hill going up past sheetz was a bit sketchy. I don't have any weight in the bed of my truck. Stopped at sheetz and filled it up with gas, 60 bucks.

Been up for couple hours.....entire leg aching. Quit taking pain meds a couple days ago. Go today to get cast off, stitches out and new cast. May take a med before I go since I'm sure it will feel wonderful after they take 22 stitches out, re-angle my foot and recast it. Yipee frickin'ha.

For the same reason a 3" exhaust won't give you the same amount of power as a 2.5" exhaust, depending on how much power you already make. The engine needs some sort of back pressure to work against to make more power, be it marginal. Too much back pressure is bad though, obviously.

Good luck at the doctor's today Dan. I hope your recovery is going as well as possible. I've been more careful on the stairs since you took your spill.

And a retune......the rousch mufflers don't reduce back pressure. They increase it by the design of the muffler. In and out on the same side means the exhaust gases do a u turn in the muffler.

And his car was a real rousch car with the stock exhaust until he switch to different mufflers and dumps

Back pressure, meh. Crazy overrated. Pretty hard to put too big of an exhaust on a car. Stock LS1s and Coyotes all over with 1 7/8" headers making power, some guys would make you believe the setup would lose power over stock. BS.

I put a tennis ball in my exhaust and gained 200hp.

    backpressure FTW.

Then I stuck a tennis ball in my intake and picked up 200hp.

    air restriction FTW.
