That sucks.. lsxs don't even need oil to run.

You don't run full synthetic in the Vette?

Don't need synthetic. We run on unicorn tears
I'm with Simmons, i don't see why the need for it to be so expensive. Whatever fully synthetic AutoZone or Advance have on special, that's what i'll go with typically... Whether that's Mobil 1, Castrol Edge (or whatever it is this year) or most recently the new Penzoil Platinum.... and in my bikes and the TT Trans Am i ran Rotella T6.... Ultimately i prefer to put German Castrol in the Vette, but its harder to find....
Typically, it costs me the cost of the oil change special, plus an extra quart, so its no more than $40. They almost always come with high quality filters (if not i'll buy one separate). The Jag takes quite a few quarts, so its a little pricer, but still nothing insane.

I go along with the hype and buy nothing but Synthetic, but i'm not so sure I completely buy into it.......... for the couple of $, i'm just not willing to risk being wrong....
I would imagine that if you were faithfully changing oil at 3K miles, standard dino oils would be just fine. My father's company has hundreds of trucks on the road, being beaten to crap every single day, and they will run to 250-300K miles with no issues... they just make sure they change the oil consistently. But that's one thing about the synthetic - you dont' need to change it as often.... The Jag is supposed to have 12-15K oil change intervals... i do it at 5-6K, but thats' still 1/2 as often as the "traditional" way.......
I was actually going to start using the recycled oil that Valvoline has out now in my truck if i kept it.... but its gone. Nothing but expensive crap for me now.
I just doubt that a normally driven car will put enough strain on the oil to make a difference... even one that's given regular WOT blasts....
If you want to know where synthetics are absolutely needed, look at sportbikes or MX bikes... Mx bikes see 10-14K rpms constantly, they usually only hold 1 quart, and likely worst of all, the same oil lubritakes the clutch, which shears the oil faster than the engine does!

My car takes 6.5, I usually buy the 5 qt jug at WalMart +2 and a filter from Ford and it comes out to about $40
Only change the oil 2x a year so not that expensive.

If it looks good, you'll see it. If it sounds good, you'll hear it. If it's marketed right, you'll buy it. But if it's real, you'll feel it. IG: @donuttrump
Most my cars under warranty so I let the dealerships do it for free then when I run out of free oil changes I trade it in
Maybe that's why Cam sells his cars so quickly...allergic to motor oil?? Or maybe he doesn't know where the gas door is?

I beat cam.. I bought a 2012 ram when I first moved here and two days later traded it in on a 2013 haha
I use Amsoil 5w-20 XL in my car and Lightning and I get 7 qts shipped to my house for $50.....so Im under $60 after filter for each.

Castrol gtx in my 408. Nothing special or exotic about an LS based stroker.
John - Hopefully I'll get to see your car sometime. Sure sounds like a very well put-together package!

I'm hoping the car will be home soon. In time for the PVGP would be nice! A cruise would be great - I only put about 100 miles on it the last 2 years!

What's the 408 put down? Was thinking of doing a 408/d1sc on the c5z I bought but I gotta put the whole driver side back on it first. Going to try to get it fixed and painted and a d1 on it in time for mustang week. Was thinking of a ls2 based 408 or ls3 based 416 with and lsa heads/ls3 intake and with either a cam from Martin smallwood or Brian tooley. Just to put around on the street with
