A big accomplishment for me over the weekend. I raced (and won) a 20 mile run across much of the Allegheny Highlands Trail near Elkins, WV. This was the longest I have ever run, and just last year was my first half marathon (13.1 miles). I started running in 2012, and before that could barely run a few feet. I don't have stories of yesteryear when I was on the track team, etc., so this is literally the peak of my running thus far and I'm pretty darn happy about it.
Among those who raced was a 68 year old man who also runs ultra marathons. His last race was a 50K! People like him are truly inspirations. He finished in 3hrs and 15 minutes!
If you don't see me posting about car stuff, then this is likely what I'm doing. My car won't get slower if I let it sit, but I'll certainly get slower if I sit around!
My family is awesome. They traveled with me, drove around to spots along the race course to cheer me on, and were at the finish line when I crossed. I think my kids may have been more excited that I came in 1st than I was. Maybe.

The mug I'm holding was the award. They were custom made for the race.

Week prior is a lot of fiber, protein, complex carbs and easy on the simple sugars. Basically normal diet with even more fiber. Day or 2 before cut out a lot of fiber. "Carb loading" not really necessary. The muscles only hold so much glycogen, and when they're full that's it. Extra carbs just end up as fat. Dinner night before was Subway.
Workout volume is basically the same, but less intense.

    Amazing!

I've never been a runner but would like to. At this point I'm getting back on the bike regularly. Last week I rode to work, 22 miles. Would like to do that more often.

I think I would burn off 3000 calories over that distance...if I didn't die first.

From someone who obviously doesn't need to work out to stay in shape.
