Oh, and a nice waste of $100 last night. Drove to the track for the first time in 2 years. Knowing I was gonna get my best time yet. Well, I got my new best 60' time. Thats about it. Couldnt shift. Coasted to the end at 69 mph with a 16.XX. Another clutch cable bit the dust. Oh well. Next week I will try again.

I second Clarks' idea about getting or riding a dirtbike some before getting a sportbike... they feel 100% different, but its the fact that you can get familiar with the controls and the general feel of a motorcycle...

As far as a litrebike goes, go with your gut... If you're gut instinct tells you that its just going to be too much, then don't get it... Its no joke, they're mean bikes... my bike still has the stock gearing (not for long tho) and it goes 104mph in first gear... and gets there in a REAL HURRY... Coming down the parkway and wanna pass a car? any of the tall gears will accelerate harder than 95% of cars out there... if you go down 2 gears and hammer it, you'll be doing 130mph in an instant, with the bike still trying to rip your face off... I don't typically get out late at night when there's no traffic, but i've had the R1 upwards of 170mph once, and it was still pulling very hard!
However, whether you kill urself or not is all in how responsible you are with your right wrist. I started on my dad's Honda CB900 custom - read, NOT CBR! - it was a pitifully slow, probably 60hp bike... then jumped straight up to my TL1000R, and then now have the R1. It pretty much comes down to one thing - RESPECT! If you don't respect the bike and try to run it to its limits, YOU WILL LOOSE! These engines can easily handle more torture than you can put on it, and handle better than anyone can push them... I'm not saying have fear, because I don't have any fear of my bike whatsoever, but i respect what it can do, and I've always been able to stay in check - and I've run both litrebikes of mine very hard!

600's make great power nowadays, but you have to get them wound out pretty hard to do so... therefore, i think you'd be less likely to find yourself in trouble... Litrebikes makes insane torque down low, and then just never stop pulling... mine is extremely strong starting around 5K rpms, and then REALLY comes on around 7500 rpms and just pulls harder and harder and harder the whole way to the 14,500 rpm redline

I just changed my stance. I really didn't mean to offend the mashed potatoes like I did.

I should've said "WAY more intellect and decision-making skills".

HAHAHHA Yep. Sure was. I think I have a solution for the cable. This time I am welding a tin shield to the long tube on that side and wrapping even more on the cable.

whatever... wait till you get a real job.

It don't end the next May. You got 15 years on that mofo. You hate your boss, his boss, everybody you work with and all your customers. Your soul is not broken... it's more like a mud puddle that everybody jumps up and down in. Every fiber of your being disagrees with everything your company does from good, old-fashioned business decisions right down to the kind of cheap paper towels they buy for the bathroom. You think you might be one of those people that takes all your guns to work and kills everybody, but you're not. That would be the easy way out. You want to quit. BUT, you get paid good, you got a company car, you got 4 weeks of vacation and if they actually fire you (well, eliminate you for reasons not of your own doing), they have to pay you 2 weeks severence for every year you been there.

...er I mean "GOOD LUCK" --- I get these things mixed up all the time.

    now, that's funny.

Thanks, but I've been using alcohol and operating machines that use large amounts of gasoline with great results.
