Its the same as a car except with a house you can make money on it instead of losing..

Yea there are pros and cons to each. But buying a home when its paid off no more monthly payments, if you rent for your life no matter what you still have to pay month to month with no end in sight. Also when you rent its not yours so you have to watch what you do with it cause you might need to move or so forth so you cant really make it your own, just a temp home almost.

The way the economy looks right now, profit from flipping or renovating a home would be crap. Especially if someone paid for the labor. Cars have always been the worst investment ever, even without mods.

They say real estate is the best investment, but that bubble popped for the time being. Hopefully it gets back to where it was 2-3 years ago.

    Vehicles ARE the WORST investment...

I was trying to talk myself into buying a new Chevy Pick-up. I don't NEED a truck, I just WANT the truck and it's a great deal, BUT: It's a full-size base model. V8/auto/4wd/reg cab... 26,xxx is the sticker. With rebates and GM card earnings, I could get it for 19,xxx.

I decided against it using this reasoning: I can leave my money sit in the bank and get (at least) 2% interest or buy the pick-up, let it sit in my driveway and lose $500 per day.

What do they say you lose right when a new car is leaving the dealership? Like 2k or something?

Our great stimulus is going to give us $13 a week in our pay checks. Unemployment checks are to go up as well but not much either.

Now the fuel prices will adjust accordingly.

I think most people will sock the 6 or 800 dollar checks in the bank out of fear of whats to come. That should really boost this economy..

I was posting the 08 Vipers

I read that too on SVTP, but I thought that it was interesting because it was the same shop that did both of em. I would have thought that with the way the 03/04 cobra, the GT500 and the Ford GT responded to mods and all the hype the LSx motors get that the ZR1 would have been able to get 700whp with just bolt ons, but right now it looks like it isn't the case.

For the viper, 600*.85 = 510.... 98rwhp from just full exhaust sounds rediculous, so either there's more done, or (more likely) 600 is an extremely underrated as well

Viper's are cool and all, but i'd take the ZR1 100 out of 100 times over the SRT-10 .... and that's not being GM biased at all... i just think the ZR1 is a top notch vehicle and is just 10x better looking.... I used to love the viper, but with all the wild styling that cars have nowadays, the wild styling of the viper has lost its appeal to me
bench racer! lol j/k cause imma do it too.

... and just cause the viper is quoted at 600 and the ZR1 is quoted at 639, doesn't mean that they make exactly that power. Otherwise Ford did one bang up job on the driveline efficiency of the 03/04 cobra since it only made 390 hp and 390 lb ft of torque

    here ya go... http://forums.viperclub.org/srt10-sr...-546-rwhp.html

Same dyno, same 08 viper when it was stock made 546rwhp SAE with just 12 miles on the odometer

if you wanna skip the dyno, go to 1:55. I think vipers with the right exhaust set up sound unbelievably good!

I find it hard to believe that the LSx motor would not respond as well to boost as the modular ford motors... I haven't sat on the internet and looked up every single component of the ZR1's engine, but i would suspect the heads are very similar to the LS7 heads that are in the Z06... those heads flow a REDICULOUS amount of air...

besides, i can tell you from first hand experience how well a LSx car responds to boost - car made 700rwhp at 13 lbs of boost and 840rwhp at 15.2lbs of boost.... and that's with hand ported and polished LS1 heads... which still would flow absolutely nothing like what a LS7 or similar head would...

Maybe it wasn't clear, but the point I was making in my post that you quoted is that the factory rated numbers are way off! they always are on big hp cars...

I wish i could comment on your links, but i'm at work and can't look.... and i'll probably forget about it by the time i get home :)

going off what what you quoted tho Bo, 62rwhp out of just a full exhaust and tune for the viper is a lot! however, its not unreasonable, so i believe it......

70rwhp for the ZR1 with a full exhaust, tune, and pulley definitely sounds off to me tho.... the Z06's were gaining a TON from just a full exhaust, the same way the Viper above did.... hard to believe that a pulley wouldn't really help as well

I agree with you Bish, I think that there will be a lot more to be had out of the ZR1

You had some pretty hefty turbos on your car though, so even though you ran relatively low boost, you were flowing a lot more air I'm sure. Regardless, I know LSx motors respond to boost well (which is what I was getting at, I wasn't saying that sarcastically). The other thing to think about is that Hennesy (is a crook, but) knows how to tune vipers, he might not know wtf he's doing on the LS9.

true.... and i'm not tuner by any means, but tuning is tuning .... i would think that someone that is good at it, would be able to easily familiarize themselves with the HPTuners program .... its just fuel and timing....

however, to pick on you (with good intention of course), the size of the turbos will not affect the power at a certain boost level... at 13 psi, my car should make that same hp no matter what size the turbo is - b/c at 13 psi, you're flowing 13psi of air, no matter if its a 100mm turbo or a 40 mm turbo (that is, of course, if the turbo(s) can even supply 13 psi of air the whole way through the RPM band).... the key with different turbos is that each has its own efficiency range for airflow... I may have to spin a smaller turbo a lot harder to make 13psi, but the car should still make the same power, b/c either way it has 13psi of air flowing into it.... make sense? I would, however, think there would be a powercurve change....

With superchargers, there might be more of an efficiency loss as you start trying to go to other boost levels - but you would have to assume that GM was THAT dumb as to put a blower on that car that was nearly at its peak of efficiency with the factory hp - never know with today's economy tho - companies cut as many corners as possible - but i'd hope you don't cut corners on your cornerstone vehicle

Oh, maybe I was thinking about it the wrong way then. I though it was more like comparing a garden hose to a fire hose. Same pressure will move different volumes of water (or air)?

And AFAIK, the eaton on the LS9 is the new 4 lobe design and is supposed to be pretty efficient. Maybe it's a lot smaller than we're expecting?
