Boy did i really piss a guy off tonight on the phone - and i was trying to be as nice as possible, but he got JACKED...

He's selling a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac with 130K miles... for$6K... sounds ok right? but here's the kicker - its a R-title....

So i call him up, talk to him about it, then ask how firm he is on the price... he tells me he has a little bit of room to move, but not much... So at that point, i just said that i would decline to make an offer, because i didnt want to insult him... And he questioned why, so i told him how i had owned r-titles in the past, and you won't get more than 50% of its true value on re-sale.... 6K is the KBB value on the truck, so i don't think he'll get more than 3000 or 3500 out of it...

he proceeds to get all pissed and tells me to "go buy a new one at a dealer" and hangs up... LOL

especially considering if you look on craigslist, there are a dozen clean-title ones within 100 miles for under 7K... lol

only if the buyer is desperate....

people are scared to death of them..... i'm certainly not, i've owned one and it was a great truck.... but if you tell anyone in the general public that your truck is a r-title, they'll immediately get that look on their face and walk away...

Newer cars that are r-titles are closer to their book value, but as a car is getting older and older (10 years in this case) they depreciate even faster

Picking up a new 2011 XLT, 4X4 supercab, with the 5.0, at the end of the month. Trading in the GMC. Got $6,500 in rebates. The 5.0 in the new F150 is an animal. It lights up the rear tires at will, I know cause i did it on the test drive, the salesman just laughed.:)

Nice Kevin!! What color is the F150? Any other options? Did you consider the EcoBoost, or at least take one for a ride? That is one amazing motor...

One tip - you might get a few more dollars for your trade if you remove that Penn-Dot yellow road paint from the inside of your mud flaps!!!
