LOL, at the road paint Ron.

Yeah i did test drive the Ecoboost and it halls a** too. It just doesn't have enough history behind it in the F150 yet. I got it pretty loaded up with all the options but one. Got the 3:55's with the limited slip. Color is white with gray on the bottom and gray interior.

Thanks PJ, for hooking me up.

Sounds real nice, congrats! You'll have to post some pics when you get it.

Very impressive on both accounts John. Anytime you can light both the tires up from a stop without doing a brake stand is impressive.

I'm waiting for someone to put the Ecoboost in a Foxbody. It would be a screamer!

I really didn't want to buy a new truck, I was perfectly happy with the GMC, I needed to do it for the business. I hope this new F150 is half as good a truck as the GMC is, if not i'll go back to the GMC, in a couple years. It never let me down and pulled both the work trailer, and car trailer, very nicely. GMC just hasn't had a new body style/update since 07.:(

Congrats on the purchase Kev... But be glad you didnt get the ECOboost. I know you use your truck to haul and the ecoboost is a complete turd hauling. We used it twice to haul my car and we will NEVER use it again. There was a lack of power esp going from a dead stop and going up hills there was no power what so ever(with the tow/haul mode on). The truck would shutter and shake until the turbos finally kicked in and then it would start to pull out. We also only managed to get 8.5-12mpg on the turnpike. His uncle doesnt use it to haul and likes it and gets around 20mpg, but for hauling a ecoboost is NOT what you want. I would use my ss everyday of the week over a ECOboost truck any day.

The Ecoboost fared REALLY well against the competition...not sure what was up with the one you drove.

Yeah Scott, I wonder if something is up with the one you used ...

I personally know two guys using them to pull big box trailers and they was impressed over their previous bigger motor / gas engines ... Not doubting your impression, but I had two just the opposite. And one of the guys pulled once to Mason Dixon with a 5.0 truck and bought the ecoboost.

Of course as you can tell, I'm watching the feedback between the two myself ... My 02 Ram is coming to a decission point (75K miles & 2002 model), to either upgrade or run it to failure so I've been talking to lots of people ... first I heard that bad on the ecoboost in moderate towing (unless that trailer had stuck brakes or the F bucket weighed 7,000#'s :D ).

Thanks Scott, for the useful and personal experience and info. I was hoping someone on here had used one to pull a trailer.

Ron, i saw all the Vids that Ford posted on the torture tests they did to the Ecoboost and figured they left some of the bad parts out. I think the big three always edits the parts they don't want you to see.:D

People ask me why i don't buy a diesel. I tell them, i can't see spending the extra 8 to 10 grand on a diesel pick-up along with the extra charge for diesel fuel and the additive they want you to put in every tank. Plus the registration/plates are more $$, and diesel fuel is still kinda hard to find where i live.

Exactly .. .add in my case that the truck needs to be my daily driver in the winter, also not having plentiful sources for diesel, and the repair and operating cost and it's just not a winner for me unless I started towing a lot more ... I would rather struggle a bit with a gas job towing than live with a diesel daily ...

I will be looking forward to your feedback on the 5.0 version as well. On paper the 5.0 wins for me.

Bob, if i were you i would run it to failure. My present GMC has 80,000 on it, its an 08, and hasn't given me a lick of problems. Like i said in an earlier post, i wouldn't be getting rid of it and buying a new won if it wasn't for business purposes. I'd keep it for another 2 or 3 years or till it got to 150,000 miles.

I could also be basing my experience off of being used to hauling with a diesel, But yet it still did not pull as well as my SS.

Well that is a Ford video, its not like they are going to say the Ford didn't tow as well as a Chevy or Dodge. LOL

I never hauled with a diesel, but I know my 2007.5 2500HD gas truck RCLB 4x4 with 3.73s is the least amount of truck I'd want to tow with. I had the bed filled with 1700lbs of cast iron and I had a 83 Suburban that weighed 3300lbs (no trans or motor or interior) on my heavy ass 16' car hauler / equipment trailer and I needed to have that bitch FLOORED when I got to a hill.

After pulling with a diesel you will never want to tow with a gasser again!

My 89 F450 (460 gas 14,000lbs) will out run the 94 F450 (7.3 diesel 11,000lbs) and the diesel even has 5:13 gears to my 4:56's.
