I can see both sides of the discussion. I built my '66 from the ground up, and SOMEDAY it will be exactly how I have dreamt it would be. Tough thing there is the dream keeps getting tweaked! I love that car and will never sell it unless I have to. I get a lot more satisfaction and enjoyment per mile driving it than, for example, the built 94 Cobra I recently sold. Don't get me wrong - the Cobra was a GREAT car and an absolute hoot to drive. But when you don't build the car yourself the bond isn't quite as strong. Hard to explain or understand unless you have been in both situations.
If you build up your car just understand it will take a LONG time to "finish" it, and enjoy the ride. People who buy their cars "done" almost always end up in better shape financially with their car and don't have to invest the time and $ to do the build.
Whatever way you go, have fun doing it!
