I HATE the sound of a leaking header gasket. The ONLY thing worse than the sound of a leaking header gasket the is sound of a leaking header gasket on MY ride!! Argh. The 387W Ranger started ticking from the right side a few weeks ago but since I'd been busy it wasn't seeing any drive time, it just sat. Tonight I just got around to swapping in new gaskets. Sucky job....not that hard but some bolts are just a PITA to get at. It's done, all is right with the world.....

Yeah I got the tick on my car also. Going to try and just snug the bolts up and if that doesn't work then I'll be diving into unfamiliar lsx fun...

I was going to bite on your wheels but read about problems with the center caps fitting over the Ranger hub. Didn't want to buy spacers or go w/o the hub.

They did no dissembly of things like trim/lights, interior...etc. He paid $7k and they wanted more.

35k isn't too far off on that monte.

Not arguing the cost of the build or what specific items cost, but 35k is a TON of money for a Monte Carlo no matter what is done to it, how much it cost, or how nice the vehicle is. If this was a Camaro, Chevelle, or Nova of the same vintage I think it would be a much easier sell... just a very limited audience on a MC at that price. Can't say I'd turn down a test drive though, I bet it is a beast!

Oh and paint/body work is unbelievable anymore... It amazes me how much a simple paint job costs these days and I'm not talking about fab or body work. The prices of the products used is outrageous and many professional shop rates have skyrocketed through the roof in recent years it seems like.

The valve covers on that Monte said Merlin - isnt that a high-end motor? With the twins that thing could be $25k+ by itself.
