The new Z06 hasn't been out very long (only manuals at this point, and its been like 2 months), and to be honest there has been a lot of drama about how it hasn't been living up to the hype, mainly due to the tune being absurdly conservative.... GTR.... its a bit more practical with 4 seats and AWD - which may be important as i move my family to the snowy north.... i also have considered an R8, but in my price range i can only afford the V8 version, and I'll be damned if I'm paying that kind of money for a car slower than the one i own today

I'm in the market for something a little nicer as well. Right now, my budget is 55k. I have gone to look at a few things, but don't plan to purchase anything until June. I have only seen 2 GTRs in my range and both seemed pretty beat. If I can find one in that spot though that isn't garbage, that's probably going to be my choice.

Bish take the drag strip and the going fast out of the equation because how often have you gone to the track? Lol. The Audi R8 is nice or maybe a nice 911/996T those can be had in the price range your looking at. I have also found some cheap Gallardos around me.

My buddy just texted me and said outside Philly there is a 2009 gtr with 37k miles for 59;995 at a dealer.

No he didn't. I asked him to email me a link from auto trade and he said "just go on the site there are 10 in the philly area so you can find it easy" but I was on my phone and I cant get to autotrader where I am now for some reason.

This has absolutely nothing to do with my post..... the fact remains that i will not spend that kind of money on a car that's slower (and in the V8-R8's case, significantly slower) than my current Corvette. I don't go to the track, and i have yet to ever chose a car based upon track times, but going fast and having fun with it is still something I am significantly interested in - else i'd just make it easy on myself and buy a Mustang :-D :-p ...

edit: i guess my original post would lean toward good times being a factor in my decision - but that's really not the case... i just think its very impressive what the car is capable of, so i made note of that

And i'm generally not a porsche fan... i must admit, though, i would consider a GT3.... but once again, the GTR has the AWD factor

If I chose to do the GTR, i'll probably go for it this summer.... if i chose to do the Z06, i'll probably wait until next summer.... there's a significant price difference between the two.....
