If it looks good, you'll see it. If it sounds good, you'll hear it. If it's marketed right, you'll buy it. But if it's real, you'll feel it. IG: @donuttrump
Tonight I had the pleasure of priming the walls and ceiling of the kids' bathroom we're remodeling. Good times! Tomorrow...cutting the grass!!...then priming the new door for the bathroom...then buying paint for said bathroom.

I though this was supposed to get easier ... lost all last year to being stuck in China on a project. I accepted that thinking this year would be better ....
So far this year, I have been here 84 of 140 days this year (60%), and will be here 20 more until June 9th (to 65%) ....
It's no wonder every time I try to race something screws up. Between being away, getting ready to go, and trying to recover from being away, there just isn't any time. A clone would be perfect ....

You would have to know Chinese. I could not imagine how frustrating it would be.

This is a rather special case. The last time I did this king of project was 2006, so one year every 6-8 years isn't so bad. I doubt anyone feels they are paid enough, but it's rather hard to complain when I look at other options.
Language or culture? LOL, believe it or not, I have enough very basic mandarin to get by in most cases. I can get in a Taxi and get them to drive me where I want to go (if I know where it's at). Can order food, drinks, get my bill, etc. ... there are times you get lost, but I can mostly get by (verbally, reading is no chance).
Culture is the bigger drive me nuts thing. Simply things like work ethic, how a situation is approached, sense of urgency, and how you deal with people are all significantly different, and makes me crazy every day. I am not a patient person by nature, but working here this much sure has taught me that. If you could get guns here, there would be a new name for "going postal".
Metric ass Tonnes ... Standard ton is 2,000 lbs, a metric ton is half of that.
That is the other thing I've learned better than I ever thought ... I switch between US Standard and Metric units easily for things like weight and temperature depending on who I'm talking to. And you DAMN well better know if someone is giving you weight in Standard tons or Metric tonnes or you will have to order a new crane ;)
I also switch back and forth regularly in my job, but not usually in weight increments, but in Feet-meters.
Not too many people know that 100 meters is 328' 1.008" or that 3 meters is 118.110" right off the top of their head here in Murica.
I was under the impression though that a metric ton was 1000kg or 2204.6 lbs, making it MORE than an Imperial or "short" ton of 2000lbs?

Indeed, I was always used to working in centigrade as most thermal processes are controlled in C, even at home. Even with that, I still always thought "F" for things like weather, etc ... now I know when the local weather calls for 38+ this weekend it's going to be f'ing hot ;)
Absolutely, the rough conversion is close enough get by almost as 1:1 ... it's that damn remainder that will bite you in the ass, ~200#'s x 16 units = order a new crane because that one ain't lifting it ;)
The other things that really gets messed up is when adding smaller units (pound or kilo's) to come up with a number, then doing the conversion into "tons" and not knowing what units was used in first place. Thankfully I'm well past tons here now.
Years ago, PA DOT thought they were going to convert to the tonne (which we pronounced TON-E to differentiate it) and that went over like a lead balloon. LOL! I still remember the conversion... 1.1023 ????
yep, or 2.2046 / 2 :)
side note: I find it funny up here people enunciate the abbreviation "kg" as "kay gee" when talking about weight but know to say "pounds" instead of "el bee"
f'real, and its easier when all u do is move a decimal point. Like gravity is 9.8m/s except on every university campus where it's 10

So I've gotten the bug when it comes to hand loading. Doing a lot for my AR and I'm starting to do some now for my .308 rifles now that I have technique down. Anyway I've done some Nosler and Hornady bullets in weights from the low 50's to low 60's. Then I came across a deal on some Hornady 50 grain SP bullets that I couldn't refuse so I snapped up what I could. They seem to shoot well. I'm matching it up with CCI #41 rifle primers and 25.5 grains of H-335. Even with my crap shooting I'm getting some really good grouping for just a red dot sight. I started experimenting with 10 bullets at 22.5 grains and upped it about 1/2 a grain every 10 bullets. Groups seemed to get tighter as I increased the charge. Not exceed load is 26 grains so I don't want to push any higher than 25.5. Besides the groups look good and I'm not getting any signs of overpressure.
Anyone else got a formula for what their AR likes? Just curious to compare some notes.
