you also gotta be thinking about what kind of compression you want to, as for what tim said about the 13.5:1 motor, that what i am thinking i could be wrong, needs to run on race gas adn is too high of compression for a s/c or turbo..

my opinion, get heads/cam/holley intake and a turbo and you will be well into if not more than what your looking for

my biggest thing is no matter what I go with efi or carb I want to have a strong bottom end built so that I have a good base. I was think for cost reasons that a carb setup might be a lil less on the pocket book, and be somethin a lil different that you dont see everyday. its not gonna be a drag strip car or anything like that, just more of a weekend cruisin car/ street car.

if thats what you want i would not go carb, imo

If you wanted to you could get the h/c/i now and through it on your motor while over winter you get the bottom end together and all you have to do is swap everythign

sounds to me like you need to just drop off the car and a check for 15k to get you started, thats a pretty in depth build you are aiming for...

If it's not a car you will drag race why are you worried about a solid base for more than 600hp?

If you like to cruise it on nice days, it'll have enough power to merge into traffic just the way it currently sits.

Why spend all the money if you're not going to use it (power)?

Ive always wanted to up the hp in my car, but I have most tof the typical bolt on mods you can do without a major overhaul, the engine has around 117,000+ miles on it and to put any kind of forced induction on it is first off expensive, and also wouldnt last too long. so Id rather not drop 3000+ on a sc or turbo to have it blow up in a few months. also if I'm goin to drop thousands into an engine I dont want to build something that has around the same hp I already have, if thats was the case I would just run this engine till it dies eventually.

the other thing is I plan on keeping this car for good, it was my first car saved up since I was fourteen to buy a car like that, and was lucky enough that 94cobra was selling it. so whatever kind of setup is goin to be a long term investment for me, plus on a side note I thought a carb setup might be something cool for my dad to enjoy since he ocasionally drives the car, he used to have a 64 impala ss with a 327, but sold it a while back, and i know he misses having a carbed v8 to drive around
