    fordstrokers.com

HidalgoGT had suggested to me to consider using fordstrokers.com to buy my bottom end. I checked out there 347 stroker bottom end kits, and there prices seem pretty reasonable. My question is they claim that there 347 bottom end can handle 400+ hp and nitrous. and with my goal being 500-550 hp/ maybe a small spray thrown in there, how are able to keep the cost so reasonable, and still handle the hp??

    http://www.fordstrokers.com/fordstro...ort-block.html

    thanks, Mike

Never used them, but I will say a stock 5.0 block is on borrowed time at the 500hp level with nitrous being the more damaging power adder.
If you're going to be buying the parts that you'd need for a 351w swap anyway (pan, headers, intake) the factory 351 blocks will hold 700hp range and be stroked to 408-427.
A nice 347 would be an excellent choice, just wanted to let you know that the 500-550hp level you mentioned MIGHT mean a broken block.

Call and talk to Woody. He would even tell you on a stock block it is "Borrowed" time. Hence why I am not building one and went bigger.

ok thanks guys, just wondering cause after seeing the type of hp u can get with the right parts on a 347 thought that it might be the way to go, but it looks like i'll need an aftermarket block

I have no personal experience about Woody, but I've seen enough of his post around the net to make me spend my money elsewhere due to his attitude, but then again that can be said for a lot of people on the net. LOL! Seriously, do your homework before spending thousands of dollars with anyone. Talk to current customers and try to find all the good and bad. Find out turn around time, HP results, parts used, etc.

Rob (gmkillr) just had an engine built by him and has nothing but great things to say.

I'd save up and start with a good block, think of it as an investment. I used Rick at RNH out in Hanover PA and have nothing but great things to say about him. He built my dart sportsman block based 331.

Here is an example from the guy that built my motor. I think this has been sold (you can call and check as I'm not 100%) but it gives you an idea of what a good local builder can do for you:

Where? I would love to see my attitude displayed as you say. One can only assume my attitude is "ok" as I have not had less than 30+ shorts or longs in my shop at any given time over the last year, and I don't do ANY local work. Local guys don't even know I exist, so my "attitude" seems to be "ok", I don't know, just an assumption.

I can say your service and helpfulness has been great. I belong to your forums and see no smartass attitude from you on there. Anytime I have a question I just message you and if you have the time you answer it in detail if needed.

Please, before I say or you read anything else let's not confuse attitude with work quality as I clearly distinguished which one I don't like in my reply.

You were banned on another site that I moderate on for the following reasons:

That doesn't sound like an "OK attitude" to me. I read some of what you posted there and formed my own opinion of you. I worded my post carefully to express my opinion as my own, and to point out that anyone looking for ANY work do their research before spending any money, period. This wasn't to single you out, its a statement any smart buyer would do for anything they plan to buy. I didn't bash you and say don't do business with you, nor did I say anything negative about your work. It will be up to them to weigh the good and the bad and they may find through their research that your work is top notch from other customers and decide to use you, or they may see the things I've read about and choose another builder. I never said or implied that you don't do good work because I honestly don't remember reading anything negative about your work, it was your attitude that I questioned and sited as my reasoning for not choosing you as my engine builder. I also won't single you out as the only one in this industry with this attitude, as I've been in it a lot long time and I've seen a lot of people that act in similar fashions. Some I have done business with, others I have not, but I based it on the research I had done and I made the decision that I felt comfortable with. As I'm sure you have seen on your own forum there are a lot of people that "follow the heard" so to speak... they believe everything they read and follow right along without questioning what others post. There was a lot of good things said here about you and your work, hell I even posted that in my reply that my friend Rob had a good experience with you, but I pointed out that it was your attitude that would send me elsewhere. I look out for my fellow stangers and as a member here with my local friends I feel compelled to express my take on what I've seen you post. I have never posted anything about you on a national site because frankly, I don't care as much but when "locals" are involved I will always look out for them. I could have been more negative in my original reply than I was, but I felt that it made the point I wanted without the need to bring up details as I now have since you decided to post this publicly rather than PMing me. Attitude and quality of work are absolutely two different things, some put more weight into one than the other but obviously I value both.

Please PM that forum name, if its the one I am thinking of, that place is hilarious. No, your right I am not going to PM you when you state publicly you think my attitude is garbage. My work speaks for itself, we shall leave it at that, but I would love to know which forum you are referring to.

Do a search on all of my post here. I just started a thread last week or so about my engine from Woody. I bought a Mexican 347 from him and i'm very happy with it. I have done some research on the Mexicans and have came to the conclusion that they will hold your desired h.p. level with no issues.
Go onto Corral, sbftech,etc... and do a search on Fordstrokers for yourself.
I'm very happy with the way Jim handled the transaction before, during, and after. He treated me well, answered all of my calls, and emails, hooked me up on the price, and talked to me like a regular guy, not a salesman type.

I'm sure my dad still has a 'hecho en mexico' block, I helped him pull it out of a late 60s/early 70s panel van :)
I doubt he wants to sell it, but I could ask.

i would say start with a dart block so if you decide down the road you wanna add more power, you will be able to do it without that bomb ticking in the back of your head..

    Just my opinion

That's nice Paul, plan on staying NA.
Mike, I'm never going to tell you not to go with the best block you can afford, but if you are realistic with your power goal, a 351 block should be fine.
Then again, you might want more down the road :)

I had some NA goals I wanted to hit before I added the turbo but they are proving harder to reach than I thought. I'm tired of seeing my T76 turbo just sit here so i think the goal now is to try and get the roll bar and fuel system done for next spring and have the car running with the turbo finally.
